I know that poetic_folly has the v3 guide for freeing up to 8MB of space, but those files he deletes are not specific to the Pebl.
Exactly, what files can I delete on the Pebl? I can't seem to find this info anywhere!
What I would like:
1) Delete all skins except Techno
2) Get rid of all stock ringtones
3) Get rid of/change the startup screen
I am not using IM, Web Browser or T-Zones. I don't need any files associated with them.
thanks for the help!

1 - delete them in c/mobile/skins Do Not Delete teh Moto skin!
2 - delete all of them in c/mobile/audio first set your phone to all silent using p2k tools
3 - delete the WVIM folder in c/mobile and delete all the emoticons in c/mobile/pictures

you can delete the moto skin - the newer motos have the ability to
have multiple skins so as long as there's at least 1 "Full" skin the
phone will survive.
BTW - Poetic does have I file delete list for the PEBL - I wrote it !!!

Is there any tutorial online explaining what each specific folder and/or files are for? In other words explaining what is the function of each file?
This way I could delete all the ones useless to me.
I don't need any files associated with:
IM
Browser
Car Kit
Text Messeging
Stock Ringtones, Screensavers, Pictures

IM = the WVIM folder
the stock pics and screens are easy, thats in c/mobile/pictures and a/ the ones connected to the themes are in a/
we covered the ringers located in c/mobile/audio already.
You can delete the .tmy files too, those are the themes
you can delete all in the mms folders too. You can delete mib_op_greet, thats the splashscreen for the browser. If you have some file management experience you can kinda learn as you go, just backup all before the final delete. Dont delete the 15x15 .gifs though, those are your menu icons.
Hope that helps somewhat

I can delete ALL the files in c/mobile/pictures? I don't want to be missing a menu icon picture.
That keeps happening to me. Also, sometimes I just get a black screen with only the shoulder buttons visible.
I think I read that this problem with the black screen was caused by deleting moto skin?

there are no icons in c/mobile/pictures, they are in a/ Like i said previously, dont delete the moto skin, while i have done it successfully on other phones but the Pebl doesnt wanna do what i tell it to on this issue. You can patch it with SkiMan to hide the Alpha tag and clock, and date if you want, other than that let it live.

you will get a black screen if you haven't got another full skin on the
pebl that's selected prior to deleteing the moto one. Have a look at
skinner4moto - pick your favourite skin and deselect "lite skin", save it
and put it on your pebl. This way you can change the default icons
too.
I did it with mine so that the only skin on it was a tweaked "mmod x".
I'm trying to get hold of a copy of the pebl_file_delete_list I created sometime
back - I managed to delete it (yes I know what about backups !!!!)

ah ha - poetic didn't have a copy, but good old usb backup hard drives
to the rescue.
This is the guide I created for a.n.other forum during the file delete
phase of a post monster pack flash on my pebl. Yes it all still worked
afterwards :-)

Grab it while you can chaps/chapesses :-)
