View Full Version : Alternate splashscreen with Vxxx

I've read that there is an alternate image splashscreen (purple rose) which can be used by going to seem "004a_0001" at offset "1C0" and setting it to "01".
I'm not really understanding how to locate seems or how to alter them. I have a program "Motorola phone tools- Vxxx Mod tool by xoclips"
Can someone walk me through how to use this splashscreen or this program?
Thank you.

Plattus,

I suggest you learn how to seem edit, those programs work..to an extent. I think its better to know exactly what seems are getting changed, this way you can go back to the way it was if something goes haywire.

Learn To Seem Edit (http://www.modmymoto.com/guides/seemediting.php)

Once you read that, you should be able to seem edit and change to the alternate splash.

Thanks, I don't hate to learn. I'll read it now. I like the work you did on the black monster pack BTW

I'm not going to try and seem cooler or smarter than I am but after looking at that I have started to understand the process. I still don't know what I'm looking at when I see a field of numbers in VXI32.
At one step in that tutorial it said "Now you can see that offset 2 is unchecked." I didn't see that unless "8A" is offset 2 in that picture. (about half way down the page)
I can however use the steps outlined to follow directions from people and other tutorials when it comes to editing seems now so thank you, cash7c3 and poetic_folly
I'm bolder now.
Am I wrong for wanting to know the easier yet more careless way to do the funlights thing with Vxxx?

perhaps you are wrong. perhaps you are right. learn the math first and then you can use a calculator. Same here. Learn the reason why it works, THEN use the shortcut ways. You'll feel better about yourself when you lay your head on your pillow at night and think about the kind of person you are. ;**

anyways yes there is an easier way but I do not trust it or recommend it.

Learning to seem edit yourself is the baises of most moto modding and that is the way I recommend.

Besides, you'll never see the blue hellomoto splash on a v3. The alternate is a red screen with "Hello" or "Welcome" in 5 different languages.

Ok, ok. I know when to listen and won't take the easy way out. I have enough problems already and probably don't need to be trying to fly when walking is enough of an issue to me.
Thanks for the advice.

Is there any way to change the splash screens to your own pic, or are they burned into rom on the phone?

Not changeable, but it can be toggled off so your startup is the first image. In my experience its not reliable though, kinda hit or miss. Maybe I just suck though, ya never know...

oh it is changable.

as soon as the site where I have it bookmarked come back up I'll post something. Or maybe one of these V3 guys know it and want to post it up ;)

I believe apristel is going to be kind enough to make a guide here for mmm :)

I just finished with Apristel's tutorial on changing the splashscreen and it worked perfectly...I think. I know it was scary for me to do but after reading all I could on the process and fighting my fears I just took the chance and suggest anyone to do the same. If I can do it... Anyone can do it, I'm a moron.
The only thing I noticed that I don't like is that whatever I did changed the startup sound found on Apristel's Cingular Modded MP to a short vibrate at startup. I can live with it but I'd like to change it if anyone knows how.
Here's my new Splashscreen!!! THANK YOU GUYS!!!
Here's what I did for the screen replacement, based off Apristel's wallpaper in that same MP.

Congrats Plattus. You have come a long way. I believe the vibrate is part of the software version and you'll just have to live with it. But regardless good job on a tough mod. :D

It was only as hard as reading great instructions. Couldn't have done it without you guys, seriously.
I was going to use this one...

Thanks. I think the vibe came from the "no_rsa" flash I used but I'm wondering if Apristel's cingular modded MP was already an rsa-free flash. If so, I can start over using his MP and just flashing the DRM.shx right?
I also have the original splashscreen with the altered text but it was too big to attach to this thread if you want it. It looks stock except for the second to last letter being an "F" and placed a little closer to the "O" so it looks good. I'll PM or e-mail it to you if you like.

i don't think his mp used the no rsa reflash.

yeah

i have followed the guide word for word.. but 3 times my flash has failed... i got quite a scare as i had to flash from "flash mode", my phone was bricked each time...

the only difference with my flashing is that I'm not using a DRM .shx file. instead i'm using a monster pack file (the new white symbian by AP) and editing the DRM file from there. Also was using an animated .gif and a non-animated .gif file. both without success...

I had some trouble too trying to use an edited DRM in a MP but just decided to use a stock DRM file I found on MMM and swaped it out with my pictures and it's worked about 80% of the time. I've done this on three other phones for friends as well as every one cingular sends me when I get dust in the screen. (Yes, I know I can get it out myself but I like getting a new phone every now and then)
