Has anyone copied their mma_ucp from the V9 and edited it? I cant seem to get any of my programs to recognize the phone in order to copy it.. :furious:

Yup. It was a no go.

I was able to use P2K commander to copy the mma_ucp from the phone but none of my programs will allow me to edit it.

I've obtained a stock V9 mma_ucp from the other thread and P2KtoolsVS opens it without a problem.

Try to copy it from your phone to desktop, edit it with P2KtoolsVS, save it and copy it back to phone.

Make a backup of your current mma_ucp before trying this.

Have a read over here about P2KToolsVS. I'm pretty sure the V9 can connect to it, since it's a P2K05 phone just like the Maxx.

I tried the above, and P2KToolsVS opened it successfully. I edited the file appropriately, but when I saved it, the file size after editing was 8021 bytes instead of 13,079. The phone did not like it at all, and I had to revert back. Phone is V9, AT&T.

OK i finally got it! with a little help.

Copy your mma_ucp to your computer using p2k commander

Open the mma_ucp in XVI32

In XVI32 click on Address and select Goto then type in 57

Then under Tools click on Bit Manipulation

set bit 2 to 0

go back to address and enter 7b

go back to tools > Bit Man and set bit 2 to 0

Click Set to save

close XVI32 and open p2k commander

go to a/mobile/system and delete the mma_ucp (be safe and make a clean copy before deleting anything)

in the window on the right navigate to the mma_ucp you modified and copy it to the phone

restart the phone and u should now b able to change your Right soft key and Smart key.

As to MMA Advanced Editor: it fails to detect mma format. Most likely, it's ATT specific error. Workaround: for every item record (0x24 bytes long) change offset 0x1f of the record to 0xCC (for soft keys) and to 0xCD for the other items. After that the mma can be edited with MMAAE. Though I suspect, V9 will accept any mma_ucp with 36-byte format (v6/v3xx/k3 mma_ucp's are preferred replacements). Will anyone test it? It's quite safe.
