Motorola E550 Debranding And Unlocking

Hi Everyone

I need a bit of help with my sisters T Mobile Motorola E550

We bought this phone in the UK and now live in Australia , so of course No Service!

I would like to debrand this phone as the T Mobile firmware is very laggy and the T Zones menus etc are very annoying. Also , you can definately see how slow the phone is with general use

Heres some of the general phone info:-

Model : Motorola E550
Network Lock : T Mobile (UK)
Flex Version : SE7485AXXB7061
S/W Version : R376_G_OE.65.14R_A
DSP S/W Version : 62202000

So ive done some reading around and have downloaded SmartMoto and a few other things like RSD Lite and RadioComm (Found the Subsidy Lock Option!)

I also read that the E550 uses the same internal components as the V620 , so i can use that firmware aswell. Is this true??

What im asking now is , can someone give me several links:-

1. Any tools im missing
2. Flash files for the unbranded generic firmware
3. Link to buy a new usb cable (Lost the other one)

Also , can i use the subsidy option in Radiocomm or get some other software for free to unlock via USB ?

And is there any way of getting existing photos etc off the phone before reflashing , as reflashing obviously blanks the phone!

Photos you can take off with most p2k programs, after installing the drivers. P2K Commander, or P2K Tools pr M-explorer will save the pics to PC. Driver link is in the download section, getting connected is explained in the guides. Its much the same for most models to flash, so look at some phonespecific guides for flashing and flrxing.
If there is no v620 or E550 MP in our download section under other p2k phones, then google might help by searching for the firmware R376_G_OE.65.14R_A.
Unlock might be easy , I don't have that phone, so I don't know. Depends often on the Bootloader version. Have a look on the sites of those programs which phones are supported.

I have actually found a link to R376_G_65.02R which i believe to be the latest available firmware. As its an R376 firmware anyway , it would still work wouldnt it?

Or do i have to flash exactly the same one? Ive been doing a lot of reading round and apparantly the best recommendation for this phone is using the V620 flex (SE5109AXXXX056 , which i have , and either R376_g_0E.65.25R or the more up to date R376_G_65.02R )

Seeing as the flex is where all the T Mobile stuff is , reflexing with the unbranded one above should get rid of it all?

Yes, the branding and stuff is in the flex, that would be enough to unbrand. But flashing won't unlock the phone. If its older then 2 years, you probably can get the code to unlock it from T-Mobile for free. That is the case for T-Mobile Germany, don't know about US, but also worth a look at theur homepage.

Thankd for the quick reply again , its T MObile UK not T Mobile US and they wont give me the code because in the UK the operator doesnt have to give it you

We now live in Australia , making the phone useless of course

When the Usb cable ive ordered gets here sometime this week or next , il try the latest firmware and then also the v620 unbranded flex , then try to unlock with software :D
