Hi
Have anyone tried to flash a v3re with a v3r or v3 .lng file? I have bought a V3re (R3442A) but can not find any Nordic language files. I do have a proper .lng file that I have flashed onto a V3r with Easy P2K. Would it work, or will I brick the phone?
Thanks, Anders

It wouldn't flash properly. You can port it, though.
I haven't done it before, so somebody else will need to tell you how.

Which nordic language? And you can parse the original with sbf ReCalc, then include in v3re as LP cg, and then recheck or recalculate checksum.

That works? Nice!

Swedish, I think it is LP2C, but it is also included in a couple of other lp's. Would you be kind enough and give me some more detailed instructions (or pointers to other guides)? I am willing to experiment, but I need to get some help to get started...

Here's what he's saying to do:
Back up your V3re in .shx format with Flash and Backup 3.0.7.
Open SBF Recalc. Click "Open Flash-File" and select the V3r LP. Then click "Split Flash-File"
Do the same thing for your backup.
Then go to the folder with your backup. You will see many .smg files. Delete CG4.
Go to your LP folder. Copy the CG4 from there and put it in the folder with your backup.
Then go back to SBF Recalc. Click "Open CG-Folder" Select the folder that has your backup with the new CG4.
Click "Recalc Checksum."
Then click "Create SHX-File"
In your backup folder, there will be a folder called "shx flash file" or something like that.
Flash that file. According to what Dumba is saying that should work.
If not, you still have your backup that you can flash.

It should work, its only a checksum incompability with LP's in the firmware. Meiner Einer (creator of sbf ReCalc) refuses to make a newer better lang editor. He is more with the Linux phones now. So we have to use what is there.

Ok, sounds great!
Btw, I'm moving this to V3re, since that's your phone :)

No, it did not work. I got an error from F&B while trying to create the backup .shx file. The error message was "F&B is sending the loader" and the handset says "Critical error BABC 5078".

I too have been trying to do this all day, and no luck.
I've tried every imaginable combination of files / languages / checksum re-calcs etc...
All I need is the Russian Language for the V3re ;(

I just realized that I did not choose v3re from the drop-down list but v3r instead (v3re is not listed). Also, my version is not 3.0.7 but 3.0.4. I will try to locate 07 instead and make a new attempt.

Well, let me know how it goes. It's an interesting idea. Hopefully it will work.

No success. I used 3.0.7, selected V3re and SHX backup. Got the exact same error on the handset after the loader was downloaded. What now?

Well, you can back up your phone, right?

Not with F&B using the described method. Other ways might work. Any hints?

Well, before doing anything, a backup is needed, both for safety and for the process Dumba described.
Here's a detailed guide for backing up:

THanks, but as I tried to say, F&B sends the loader to the V3re who crashes with the mentioned error. So there is no backup taken.

Ok, let's make sure we have all the pieces in place. You have the drivers installed and the computer can detect the phone, right?
You have Flash and Backup 3.0.7 and you're using the V3re profile, right?
You're checking all of the boxes and you're backing up in shx or sbf format, right?
I'm guessing the answer is yes to those, but I want to make sure.

That is right. So it fails sending the loader. Are you using a direct USB port in the back of the PC, or a shared Hub with all sorts or a front USB port? Is the cable trusted, and usedfor this stuff before, or may it be not a full 5pin USB? Do you have a good downloaded version of FB3.07? Are you running Vista, under Admin rights? Is the selected file where to store the Backup on the same drive as the Program FB3?

Direct USB port on a Dell D620 laptop. Have used the laptop to flash several V3, V3r and V3i phones during the last year.
I can not be 100% sure that the usb cable is the same as I used before. I will try another one later...
FB 3.0.7 downloaded, unzipped and installed w/o problem.
Windows XP, SP3 with Admin rights.
Yep, use the default location which I believe is in the FB folder.
Thanks for not giving up :)

Yeah, trying another USB cable is always a good step.
Now, in the bottom left hand corner of of F&B, is it green? What information is displayed? This is phone is R3442A, right?
