Well what's TelNet? is a network protocol used on the Internet or local area networks (Your Phone!!) to provide a bidirectional interactive communications facility.
Now how can we TelNet on our Phones in Windows
You'll need Command Prompt and the drivers (http://www.motorola.com/consumers/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=bda09ec8009a0210VgnVCM10000088 06b00aRCRD)
Now you can't Telnet on any E8, you'll need a modded one, flash with any FW from ilove3d or Bestwebs [remember to be careful with what you flash, refer to this thread (http://modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=218651) if you want to know something about flashing] or the FW that belongs to your phone, check each area to see more information about that
Once you've flashed your phone you can access TelNet, go Menu> Settings> Connections> USB Settings> Modem & Tools
Now on your computer click the Windows key and the R [yes the R] at the same time, or click on the windows logo [start menu] and then at Run, this screen will appeir

There, type cmd, just like that and this screen will show up
http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/4853/sshot2l.png
You'll write there ipconfig and a screen full of numbers and letters will come up [:p] ignore most of them, and search for one that says something like this
http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/5404/ipconfigt.jpg
search for something like "Ethernet Adaptor Local Area Connection 2", it can be 2, 3 or 13, any number.
The address should be something like 192.168.16.1, if you still don't trust on your skills, disconnect the phone, and reconnect it, then repeat the process and the number should be the same.
Now, take the IP you have, and write it down, add 1 to the last number, it this case the original one was 192.168.16.1 plus 1= 192.168.16.2
Now we'll do something really cool, type edit rokr.bat
A blue background should appeir [wait a few seconds if it doesn't] and type Telnet IP* [IP* = your address, remember 192.168.16.2]
For example i wrote
http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/4850/sshot3puu.png
Go to file> Save and then file> Exit. You should be back at the black backgrounded window.
Now type rokr and when this screen comes up
http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/3341/sshot4t.png
Type root
And now you are Telneted, to exit just type exit, and then disconnect your phone
And as you created a file when you typed edit rokr.bat, everytime you want to TelNet or FTP, you just need to type rokr, and you'll be done :D
Now let's get some FTP as Samba sucks
Now depending on which client are you'll have to change the way of doing it, if you use FireFTP do this and if you use FileZilla enter the following fields: host: 192.168.16.2 - username: root - password: root - port: 21 - then click on quick connect and if you use FireFTP click on create account, fill in the black parts with the info you have (previus info) and click on OK, then click on quick connect.

After you are done with FireFTP, you'll see something like this
