Skiman wont detect my Razr v3re!!

Guys this has been really frustrating.

First i started this modding thing in order to just have the date (8/13/09 thing) appear on my phone and to no avail (p2kcommander didn't work, p2ktools did nothing.) It just shows the operator, (tmobile.)

Now i figured changing the skin might do the trick, but now the skiman won't even detect my phone. I have the v0.51 version and when i go to "settings"
and uncheck the "autodetectmodem" it does show my phone. it says "motorola USB modem #3." Yet it wont show it on the main page inorder to install.

P2k commander doesn't work on my phone either so thats no use (even thought i have the drivers and RSD).

My computer is a Windows Vista 32bit if thats any help to the experts around here.

Does RSD Lite detect your phone? Does P2kTools say that it's detecting the phone connected in P2k Mode?

Yes RSD detects my phone. P2k doesn't.

Danation I finally got skiman to work. It still wont show the date even with a new skin with the "date ski patch" adjusted. I read that this may be because in order to make room for the myfaves, tmobile has to take out the date. Is this true?

Also how can i delete the other skins? (glow,tmobile..etc..)

Yeah, but you can show the date with a seem edit.

View Date on Home Screen (Seem 0032 offset BE. Uncheck bit 5)

To delete skins, select them with Skiman and click delete.

Make SURE there's at least one "heavy" skin will all of the icons, such as Alkali.

When in doubt, make a backup first.

In skiman i can add skins. Yet I can't see them on the panel. I can only install a skin after finding its file, and then restart. But i can't see my skins in the main menu.

I can only see them in the V3re Flex editor. i know the skins are still in the phone because after deleting the physical folders (the ones i can see) it hardly made any changes to the available memory. and i added 3 skins.

also dan, i forgot to mention i did install p2k tools but now it has weird lettering. i can't understand it. it looks like some alien or foreign writing. with a's and o' with little dashes on top.

im guessing the language is messed up. how can i change it?

P2kTools File Manager won't work with V3re, but the seem editor works great.

You can delete all of the skin files you don't want with M-Explorer 0.9.6m. Then using the Flex Editor, by Motocat, you can delete the actual skin folders from the phone.

Dan thanks man. Problem resolved. I finally got the date to show. Using the seem and P2ktools.

Now but the skins still wont show on skiman (not even the alkali.)

I've tried to use the mexplorer to delete all the unwanted stuff on my phone, but i don't know how to install the cache v3re file since this mexplorer doesn't have a data folder. Is there any alternative to delete the stuff I have on my phone?

It now says, ""No Free Space Available. Available;0, needed 466339 (30 kb reserved)"" (on the skiman popup message).
Yet when i check on my phone status (in the phone itself) it shows 25031.1 kb, it also say this on the skiman at the bottom right, yet not when i try to install another skin.

Im thinking mexexplorer would be the solution, but i dont know how to run the v3re cache.

Skinman never worked for me, I dont believe it works for the v3re. There is a read me file in the file patcher that explains how to do it. Ill try to find them and post for you.

yes ive seen that file. but it deosn't make sense. it says add the cache to the folder that says "data" but there is no data folder when its done downloading.

it also says if you cant find the data folder make one up but i don't know how.

i tried making a new folder and adding the cache fie to it but it doesn't work at all.

Are you running Vista? If so, you must run it as an administrator. I also had to put it in a different location than Program Files.

When you open M-Explorer, go to it's settings and make sure the file-cache option is selected.

But this isn't necessary for the skin folders. You'll be able to see those either way.

I only run it as adminstrator all the time. I only have that account available. It still won't work. Dan which folder did you switch it too? I switched it to documents (it was first in programs like yours.) It didn't detect the skins at all still. It does connect to the phone but i can't see the a//phone root thing. I run the filecach and it says not detected. I have the use filecache thing checked as well.

The only solution i have found is to delete all the unecessary skins by restoring my phone back to the factory out of box setting. I already did that. But i don't want to keep doing that everytime just to remove skins, since it deletes everything. yet still keeps all the original unnecessary skins like (glow,tmobile,and disco.)

Also i forgot to mention. The mexplorer and the v3re flex don't delete the skins themselves on my phone. It just deletes the folder names. I know this because the pics that come with the skins for the main menu stay in my phone, and the memory doesn't increase. (only like 20kb increase)

For anyone out there with the same problems as me. Heres the solution I found.

If skiman won't detect your phone, first make sure you have your motorola drivers installed.

Then open RSD Lite. Your phone should come out in one of those ports. Double click it to see the extra info on the top left hand corner. Now exit out of RSD

Start skiman right away. It should start uploading the information from your phone in about 3 secs from opening skiman.

If that doesn't work then repeat the process (except the drivers part, you only need to do that once). It will work eventually. The most tries I had before skiman read everything (meaning it showed all my skins and pictures) was about 4 tries.
