Help with voicemail notification

I need some help with a nagging problem, I have a new ebay unlocked Ver3 the number is R3442A_G.
I have a older Razr ATT branded that died and since it seems like I wouldn't buy a new Iphone or fancy phone from them salespersons at the Att store they said they couldn't help me and had never seen this problem and couldn't help me with an unlocked phone.
I installed my sim card, transfered my phone book, pictures, to the new phone and every thing works great!....
Except that when I call to get my Voice mail messages when I hang up I immediately get a text message that only shows what looks like a walkie talkie symbol with a @ after it. I have to delete this after every voice mail call. I have text messages/ web turned off on this account. I have text. mms and all message notification turn off.

LOL. This is a problem only with ATT. you get this kooky message because the phone is running un-branded f/w. to fix this all you need to do is flash a stock ATT monsterpack or any modded MP that was built on ATT s/w. I wish i could find the workaround for this issue too, because the same thing happens with the custom Alpha Tag mod. Quite annoying :)

Thanks so much for your reply. I appreciate it. I called 611 today and talked to a nice lady who explained that they won't help me either:)
I was reading here last nite and hoping it wouldn't turn out to be something else I would have to learn how to do...lol

I'm pretty good with this sort of thing, I do computer repair...just spent a weekend not too long ago learning how to flash firmware and new maps into Garmin's and when they call I've read the manual for everything but to save some time and doing anything crazy when I get to it does this one below look like the right nice safe bet stock candidate from that page?

The info says its supposed to be unlocked, but they are not certain. unfortunately i cant find one that clearly says Unlocked. If this MP does lock your phone you can get the subsidy code from ATT if you fib a little:D
I got my code by telling them my daughter broke her phone and i give her mine, but shes on t-mobile.... they said SURE heres the code!! i dont even have a daughter LOL!!

interesting! would this cure the crazy VM you get from changing the operator text?? thought i tried all the seem edits to correct this problem, but it has been some time:)LOL
