Backing up the v3r and the v3re

I used Kirklestats guide how to backup the v3r because it shows the procedure. For the R4515 and the R3443U2 you don't need to do this if you use Flash&Backup 3.04 and newer. All Loader and Profiles are already added.

For the new v3re or v3_06 You will need to add those first, so the profile can be set to v3re .

How To Backup Your V3r for R3443U2 and R4515

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
this is for R3443U2 OA.52 and R4515 OA.52

for R3443U2, download the attachment R3443U2.rar. put the *.ldr file in your Loaders folder and the *.prof file in your Profiles folder in Random Developments directory.

open Flash&Backup3 and select R3443U2_V3r on the Active phone profile. viola!

ok ive been reading around and im really confused about what kind of v3 my girlfriend has..ive already found some MP and i need to do a full backup of the phone and the bootloader and im not sure of what profile i will use with this SW R3443H3..21R and 0A.42 bootloader :scratch:

You wouldn't happen to have the My Stuff animation file (I have a V3re, but I don't think it makes a difference as long as it's the right resolution) , would you? I backed up my files before I starting clearing out the stock stuff and I guess it didn't make it, somehow.

Thanks Dumba for your method to back up. I already posted in wmwinn's thread that I used the stock file and for some reason, my phone won't get a signal from ATT. Well, I tried your backup method as well. I backed up my wife's V3re (identical to mine) and tried to use its image file to restore my screwed up phone. Everything went according to plan, except, still no signal. :) I'd welcome any help, comments, or verbal abuse.

Now you must decide if youi want the T-Mob branded and locked firmware or an unbranded MP. The MP will not unlock your phone should it be locked at the moment to a provider.

Is it possible to back-up boot and PDS with FB?
I even did test point on this phone (R3442, boot 0C.C1) but can't do PDS/Boot read.

If I were to backup my V3re and flash it back to another v3re will it carry my IMEI along with it? I have a clean out of the box V3RE locked to T-Mobile. I want to use that clean backup and dump it on to another v3RE. I don't want it to mess with the IMEI numbers.

No, the IMEI is phonespecific and not part of a backup. It sits deep in the phone in a Protected Zone. Changing the IMEI is illegal in almost any country, so we would not talk about it here , nor tell people how to flash a backup if that would touch the IMEI.

after reading a bit i've gotten the curage to mod my newly bought V3re.

I've already downloaded F&B3 and have drivers ect all lined up.
(made a couple cusom ringtones and loaded them as tests)

what I would like to know is what is the best/most compat backup format to use.

my goals for my phone for now is changing the hello moto screen (already have your tutorial up) and deleting some of the locked stuff I don't want/need.

Best format is .shx , because it can be flashed with RSD Lite too.

I Have a full backup but obviously I have another question.

When reading data what damage can or can't happen when you tick the "Cut empty bytes at end of code groups"

also when I copied my new bootscreen (successfully) motorola phone tools kept reporting that the phone wasn't connected until I re-flashed the "hellomoto" pic back on and re-installed..

i'm about to re-create the problem to see if I can fix it

I found the problem..... I had security settings in lock mode

About the empty bytes, I always uncheck it. But it was nessessary on some phone models, otherwise they couldn't read the backup, with all the empty spaces in the end. But I believe its not a problem with the newer motos, not for the v3r anyway, and probably not for the v3re either. Should work checked as well as unchecked.

okay maybe im dense, when using fb3 to back up my pnone, i go into read data and check select all and then what file format? .shx? then read data...

No Problem. I use .shx, because that way my backups can also be flashed later with Motorolas own RSD Lite program.

thanks dumba. i am going to do this and the next time i mess up my phone trying to mod it, i should be able to fix everything to its current state.

it seems to me that the v3re is a relatively new phone to modding, yes? i have been able to do most mods with no problem, it is the root directory that i am interseted in modding, specificly the shut down and start up gifs, everything else is pretty much fair game. some one told me that the root dir. is not moddable yet. but i am patient. some what...

You are one of the most active modders here, and I noticed you tried to help others too. I don't have a v3re, they are just about starting to sell them here. But I have the house full of phones, so I will give the v3re a miss for the moment. I know more about the v3r.
Have you had a look at Motocat's flex editor he developed with the help from T-Kalli?

no, i havent but will give it a look. i think i noticed that he is a mod? at another site, i think. i love to share knowledge. and it is my goal to make my phone an extention of myself. and untill i can change anything on my new phone i am here for the long haul. i have little knowledge of modding, but complete modding is my goal.

Update: The latest version of Flash&Backup3 (3.0.7, I believe) has the profile for the v3re. Though I wouldn't mind somebody explaining the specifics of the process of creating a profile.
