where do you get skins from?

hi i'm new to this, just got a v9 and it only came with 2 skins, how and where do you get more from?

i read some other posts but it didn't make any sense! also i read that you could get rid of the phone company crap (like their wallpapers and apps, and their annoying icon on my menu!!) how and what do you use to do that. i'm in australia so my provider is telstra.
