I've been unable to read the file structure of my v3_06 phone. I've tried:
1) P2K Commander v3.2.2 (app errors when trying to read /a drive on phone)
and
2) P2K Tools VS v3.08 (can't get file folder tree to appear)
Any other suggestions?
thanks,

Hmm, no , not really. I would try if any of the above programs kick in when RSD or FB3 is running as well at the same time in the background.

The file structure is not showing up with either FB3 and/or RSD running in background.
I've tried going back a few versions with P2KTools, but they all show a blank directory tree.
Anybody else able to view/edit the file structure on their V3re?
thanks,

Did you click the refresh button in p2ktools?
wmwinn

Yes. When I click on Refresh, a dialog box comes up - showing that files are being read from my phone (takes several minutes to hit 100%). After that window closes, file manager window panes remain blank.
thanks for helping, any other ideas?

looks like someone else has had this issue: http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46392&highlight=r3442a

I'm following this thread with interest as I am having the same issue. I will be sure to post here if I find anything as how to resolve this.
EDIT: Just finished doing some more research and came across this website: http://hacktherazr.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5471
Most software seems to be working with V3re, according to this forum's thread (http://www.motox.info/showthread.php?t=54128). I succesfully applied a new skin using Skins Manager v.0.51, I'll play around some more and let you know what I found out!

Well, I goofed up whilst experimenting :furious:
Now my phone wont display anything but a alternating black/white screen when turning it on. When I plug the phone into my PC, it's only recognized as a USB device for which the automatic driver installation fails.
I guess I'll have to try to flash using a monster pack. I am looking through the guides, but the wealth of info makes it hard for me to determine which guide exactly to use, especially since the phone isn't even being recognized correctly by Windows.
if ur pc wont recognize the phone then u wont be able to flash
try forcign your phone into bootloader then connecting to fb3 then flashing that shoudl work but if not pm me and i will get ya going again

Back to original topic: I finally found a way to view my phone's file structure!
M-Explorer 0.9.6m by Random. This app has allowed me to change files (like cl.gif) successfully on my V3re.
Hope this information helps others!

Thanks wmwin for m-explorer.
With that I was able to download the seems file from the V3re and edit it in a hex editor to turn on Java App Loader. Then uploaded it back into the phone with m-explorer. Now I can transfer games with MidWay.

thanks wmwinn. I have been searching for something that will list files on this phone and M-Explorer did the trick!
I have only been able to open /a/. Have you been able to open others?

there is only an A/ partition on the v3re. thats it.

There are files in the root of /a/ that remain hidden from P2K apps... see this thread for more info.
http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55484
Hopefully, someone will post a method to explore/modify/delete the files on root of drive /a/ on the V3re. I haven't been successfull yet.

There was a way easier way to enable your Java App Loader.
As for P2kTools, it doesnt show my "files" but if I go to hidden files and click get values it DOES work, and thats how I enabled my Java App Loader. (the easy way)
@Catzilla
Yo, plug your phone in and open up P2k Tools.
On the left column go to the Hidden button.
Then on the top click the "Get Values" button (let it finish loading)
Then check the "Kjava" button and on the right you'll see a bunch of options.
Find the one that says Java App Loader (or something like that) and check the box.
Now on the top click "Set Values" and let it finish.
Then close the program out and re-boot your phone
DONE

Yes, I have tried that already. The problem is, after I reboot the phone and check if the checkmark is still there in "Enable Java App Loader".... Well... It's not.
I've tried to upload files using Motorola MIDlets Manager, but it can't find the phone (most likely, because the value in the seem is not enabled).
I think this is because p2ktools doesn't know v3re's file system, which mean i must download the seem using m-explorer, edit it, and upload back.
But the problem is, I don't know where the seem file lies, and what value to edit to enable java app loader!
PS Midway can't find the phone either.

I actually used P2ktools and I have the V3re (3442a).
I wonder if maybe your using an outdated version of P2ktools. Infact when I open P2ktools it shows my phone model at the bottom. Maybe if I still got the zip file of the P2ktools I got, Ill host it for ya and you can see if its the same one.

Yes. P2kTools recognizes my phone as v3re, and so does flash & backup 3.0.7

I'm using P2KTools VS v3.08 build 864 for seem editing on V3re. Maybe give this version a try: http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=6647

wmwinn, your version worked for hidden options gui style seem editing. yay!
but, i still can't upload program using motorola midlets manager or midway.. maybe i'm doing something wrong?
motomidman does not even connect to the phone (motomidman v0.62.1YEAR)
MidWay can't connect to the phone either. When I select the jad i click "send", i get Opening JAD file.............[OK]
Connecting the phone.........[TIMER EXPIRED]
Downloading canceled.

When using Midway - make sure the com port is set to either 2 or 6. (mine uses port 6)
One other thing, Cat..... don't connect the phone to USB cable until the phone's JAVA app loader tells you to. Doing it earlier can give the no connection error like you've shown.

V3re , I have found that P2ktools3.0.8 file manager will display files. You have to type the name of a known file and it's extension into the filter box. Then push refresh. This will dispaly the directory tree to the file. Then Minimize the Folder tree to +a
now type *.* in the filter box and hit refresh,,all files in the folder that your file was found will be displayed.
You can use P2kcommander at the same time. I have not found any advantage to use P2ktools over P2kcommander for file management.

I tried this but could not get it to work, is this working for anyone else? Nevermind I got it to work, I had to have P2k commander open at the same time.

Hey I found a file manager that
is nice. Displays all files on a/ and the root hidden files.
Check out my Modmymotto post under the List of Files on the V3re
