Anybody modded a myFaves V3 from T-Mobile?

My girlfriend got a pink one, and it's got this myFaves software on it (unlimited minutes to your top 5 callers blah blah) and was just wondering if anyone else has had any problems modding them, like 'standard' seem edits screwing with something it's not intended to....Just wondering. I'm gonna do some when I visit her a few weeks from now and thought it'd be nice if someone else has already blazed this path and could tell me the results.

i think the myfavs is just a adon feature, not positive though. start in bootloader mode (pwr, *, and # to turn on) and tell us what it says i am betting it is a v3r

Actually the best way to settle it is: take off the battery, there will be a model number listed under it. What model does it say? My bet is on V3t...

My main problem is she's in tulsa, Ok and I'm in a suburb of St. Louis mo and will be (minus some weekend visits) till January. So she has to follow my commands over the phone :rolleyes: she couldn't get the bootloader mode to work, and I tried it on my V3c and couldn't get it to work. we both tried turning the phone off and doing it, then doing it from the main screen. Neither worked. She may be doing it wrong or too slow though, since I'm not there to verify it (she has really long nails too)

Anyway, she popped it open & took out the battery and it doesn't say model number anywhere. according to her the first thing it says on her sticker is as follows: V3(G8/9/18/19)

by this I'm guessing it's just a plain V3 with myFaves as an add-on?

Its something new, yeah. I'd like to get my hands on it. Get a backup of the software. Bootloader mode will work fine on it. Try taking out the battery, holding the * and # on while putting the battery back in and power it on.

Well, I'm going to visit her from October 20th-23rd and I *was* going to try to mod her phone. Now I'm not so sure..I may just change cl.gif if it's in there and get a backup of the software for you if you really want to take a look at it.
For what it's worth:
1) She said that at the T-mobile store they told her that they couldn't just load the myfaves software on a regular RAZR
2) After attempting the first bootloader instructions in this thread the two bottom options on the main menu changed from 'camera' and 'phonebook' to 'style' and 'profiles' but I had her change them to something else and then back to camera and phonebook with no probs

Now that she's tried the poetic_folly version of the bootloader instructions [holding * and # as she's putting in the battery, then powering on] which is quite a feat with her nails and it displayed the following

0A.52.SW ver:R3443U2_G_0E.C0.13r

then something about the phone being ready to be programmed blah blah

I don't know how much this matters but I've noticed some guides for doing seem edits to enable video recording on the V3...hers came with it on there. Hope that might help somehow

If I am correct, its a file on your phone that dictates your menu setup... icon placement, how many, etc

From what i understand you can mod your phone to do so. I have a buddy who does alot of work with tmobile phones and he said myfav's are controlled by their systems and not your phone. You can change your myfav's once a month, but that has to go threw tmobile, your phone isn't it. So the short answer is no, you can't mod myfavs from the phone. :(

I was thinking that the custom MyFavs menu, as I saw on the ad, would call for a custom mma_ucp file. Im probably wrong, but Id think that was a software issue and if someone made a MP with MyFavs, Id like to see how its set up. Maybe its just another add-on on the main menu.

its not a v3t, that comes out at the end of october, the 30th is what i heard on other websites.

also i read about this razr and i read somewhere it was being refered to as a v3r beacause of the software "3443"

i have pearl gray v3r from t-mobile
i was able to mod it some but it acts like a pebl in some ways
was only able to free up some space and change a few things
it's a cool phone but it's still so new nobody really knows anything about it

The FW is different, I dont recall the exact # now, but they are definately not V3i's, they havent been released yet. AFAI remember, its a V3r, I can check for certain when I go back to work on Wednesday, and can bring one home and make a stock MP for it if there isnt one here by then. Holy Crap, I have two days off in a row! lol

Does it have a 1.3 Megapixel camera or is it still the old VGA? If it's a VGA, then chances are it's just the same old V3 with new software. The V3i (and hopefully the forthcoming V3t) should have the 1.3 Megapixel camera.

i like challenges but geeze the pebl wasn't hard to mod the rokr wasn't hard to mod so why does this one have to be such a pain
anyways the fav5 feature may be cool but not worth it i wasn't given all the fact when i upgraded it seems you switch to fav 5 and lose free mobile to mobile. if you want mobile to mobile back you have to pay an extra 10.00 which isn't a bad deal but why should you lose it to begin with.part of being with specific carrier is to talk to other people on same network for free.

i had one for a couple of weeks, but I sold it on eBay. got the phone through TM upgrads because my v3i was down. no need for myfaves, so no use for the phone. i played with it for a while and some v3 mods worked and others didn't.
some observations on the phone

no date on the main screen and no seem edit helped. TM customer service said to contact Motorola, but i never did.

no Moto skin. the main skin was called Akali

couldn't get over 30 secs video record time.

even with modded skins, no date and the operator and time always at the top even when using a modded ski file.

multimedia was called Fun and Apps (or something like that) and inside there was videos, sounds, etc.

she told me it says VGA zoom 4x below the aperature....Hers is a pink one which they just came out with the pink myFaves recently....when I look at the EXIF data from one of the pics she took and equipment make, lens aperature etc are blank, unlike on my V3c where it shows that Equipment make is Motorola and Len aperature is 1.3mp

Ok, so I finally got tired of wondering and had her call t-mobile. they had her take out the battery and read off some number IM something she said. and the lady told her it's a V3r

Hmm yeah. So now we need to figure out why the MyFavs V3 firmware won't go on the V3r. Boot loader I suppose. Lets figure out how to make it fit. :D

The my5 file, or the mma_ucp? I actually upped that (my5) seperately, but that was way after I made the B/U. To get it to read the phone, I put FBU in the L7 profile, I wonder...

Just for clarification...The default bluetooth name is 'Motorola V3r' when I hooked it up to the computer it was recognized as a V3r. I didn't get a backup cause we were too busy in bed :D (looks like someone else took care of that anyway. I looked through every directory for the ringtones and wallpapers and saw none. The cl.gif can be changed easily though. Also the custwakeup.gif and custgoodbye.gif are easily changed. That was the only thing I did to it besides bluetooth some custom ringers from my phone to hers. This phone kinda sucks though because it's only got like 4.1MB total memory, the voice dial has to be pre-recorded and it's slow accessing menus and pictures. Oh and yeah it doesn't display the date on the outside flip, just the time.

I just got one today. T-Mobile has a whole host of new RAZRs. There's a bunch that are just newer V3's (Or, I guess, V3r's?) and the V3t, which has a 1.3 megapixel camera. The pink, pearl grey, etc. are all just newer V3's.

I recently got a "my faves" v3t from tmobile. I have been trying to get a bead on what it is specifically so I can reasearch modding my model. So, whats the consensus? It's a v3i type right? Is it hard to mod as I read in a few posts? Just my luck if I paid extra for the broke one. :(

I have gone through the "get connected" step so far. I am still reading on how best to get a backup before I start playing with it (quite a few opinions on it). The "BasicBlack" skin is in my future once I know what I am doing.

this topic may be dead but i need some help... i just got a t-mobile razr the other day... it says its a V3... but im pretty sure it isn't a normal one. All i know is that it has a VGA camera and the info below...

You could try a R3443U2 monsterpack but it might totally kill the phone and I strongly recommend you don't....

It does not work on r374 v3 and it doesn't work on r4515 v3r. It works on r3443u2 v3r, r3443u5 and r3443h3 both v3t, r3442A v3re, not sure about all the others.
