I'm having success with loading new skins onto my V3re!! (thanks to all the great help on this forum)
Now, I'd like to create more free space on my phone by deleting the 3 default skins that came with the phone. They are:
GLOW, DISCO, and ALKALI
When I use SkiMan to delete these skins, it looks like everything works correctly (files and folders are gone).... BUT when I try to change a skin on the phone (settings > Personalize > Skin) the deleted skins are still there! When selecting one of these or another skin from the list gives erratic results. It makes it difficult, if not impossible, to select the correct skin from the list.
Any ideas how to remove the stock skins totally from my phone - and also not see them on the skin menu?
thanks!

Hey Mark, did you try to delete any of the files suggested for the 3V and 3Vr phones to save space? see here...http://modmymoto.com/guides/safetodelete.php
Let's crack this baby open...!!!!

I've made a few mistakes by deleting files... ARRGGHHH! Backups have sure come in handy.
The file structure on the v3re is quite a bit different from V3 or V3r. There's ONLY an /a/ drive - and only a single file in the root.
It's been a little frustrating, but once someone figures it out - we'll post instructions for others.
I've been working on mostly skins this weekend.

I know what you're talking about, wmwinn, and I have no idea either. I used M-explorer to copy all the visible files to mine comp and set all the non picture/audio.etc. to open with notepad and searched for "k", to sift out where skin is kept. Nothing. My only thought now is that the files keeping disco/glow on the menu might actually be in the Alkali skin *.dat files. It is most obnoxious.
Side note- where can I change what comes up when displaying the "Choose camera sound" menu-- i.e. how can I change the word "chimp" to "D'OH!"?

9374 - reply to your sidenote. In the system folder, there are five amr files (quicktime audio). They are called:
shutter1.amr (chimp)
shutter2.amr (quack)
shutter3.amr (flix)
shutter4.amr (boing)
shutter5.amr (click - DEFAULT)
If you wanted to create a D'OH! sound, probably have to encode it into amr format, then overwrite one of these. Don't know how to change the menu labels, though. Good luck!

I installed skins manually , then deleted the files and folders to increase space.
I am having trouble deleting skins folders, they delete using p2k comm. but are still visible on the V3re. Any ideas ? , I have tried M-explore and many utilities.
use skiman to delete skins it is much easier

necitomy - SkiMan is being used, it is the problem IMO. The program loops through folder deletion at least 50 times with an error before giving up. I'll copy the log next time to document what is happening.
Problem: Skin files are deleted (saving space!), but listing on phone is not affected. Every skin ever loaded on the V3re is listed - never removed from phone's skin listing.
It's a nuisance, but pointing out an error in the SkiMan program for V3re users.
delete it with p2k vs thats how it works on bv3r any how

I really wish that SkiMan would do the deletion correctly. I'm going to try and contact the app developer for revision.
Again, doesn't matter how the files are deleted - the phone's list of skins is not updated after the deletion.
Necitony - do you know which system file is responsible for displaying the list of skins presented to the user?
thanks for your help,

Evidently no c drive on the v3re, lol. Thanks for all the exploration to the v3re users and members here. All of this will help in the future. Most is trial and error, but that was the same when the v3r came out, we didn't know it had a c drive for a while, lol.

As a side note, someone asked about deleting the original themes/skins and i was just reading the PDF at Motorola.com on Razr V3 and it states "You cannot delete the preloaded themes on your phone."
Hopefully that put to rest that question.

I know the original title of this thread was about deleting stock skins (preloaded by Motorola) on the v3re....
but has anybody been able to load a new skin, then delete that skin, AND see the skin disappear on the phone listing?
My listing of skins is getting pretty long on the phone - but only a few physically reside on the file structure. What a nuisance.
v3re owners: Check the SkiMan log when trying to delete a skin. Looks like it repeatedly loops through an error trying to delete the skin folder - then finally gives up after about 50 attempts.

by using Skins Manager, go to settings and on Skins Path, choose manual and put /a/mobile/skins/
give it a try.

Same problem here wmwinn, I can't get rid of the menu listings either. I can't use P2k menu editor to edit the menu, because it obviously isn't compatible with the new menu system. So good luck too all of you, hope someone figures it out.
