Hi All,

V3 (black, but I doubt that makes any odds..). Suddenly all the keys have locked and only the power key worked. I've downloaded 'keypad_fix_flex' and patched it. Now the other keys work but all the phone will do is display 'Recording voice recorder' ? which isn't a lot of use...
I've found the latest flash file but it won't flash, Multiflashflex comes back with "Cannot access Moto Flash interface' ? The phone's dropped to the boot loader but that's as far as it gets...

Anyone give me a pointer where to go next ?

Thanks

Try taking the battery out for 15 minutes.
The MFF problem is caused by not being able to find the Flash Interface Driver. Try Googling for RSD Lite (v 3.2 is out now) and instal that. It is a little more user friendly than MFF, I think.

Thanks for the quick reply, most appreciated.
I’m only able to find v2.7 of RSD lite and I can’t install that as it says it can only be installed to boot drive C and my boot drive is I (don’t ask, it’s a long story !!).

If I leave the batt off long enough will I be able to flash with MMF ?

Thanks again.

It should be nothing to do with the battery. See if you can start in boot loader mode (hold down * and # while powering up the phone) and then flash it with a full Monster pack. That shold fix ya. You can also flash with FlashBackup 3, but its $9.95.

If MFF isn't asking for the drivers try a different usb port and see if it then asks for them. Then point Windows manually to wherever you installed the P2K.sys file

I've alreday tried flashing with the boot loader screen up, but MMF can't see the the phone at all then (nothing showing connected on the main screen). It will happly load a flex file (with the phone running normally) but not a flash ?

Update:
OK, bit of testing.
Got Flashbackup and it's doing the same thing as MMF. Once the phone drops to the boot loader as far as the s/w concered the phones not there (with the phone in normal mode on the menu screen it's fine, the s/w can see it and send flex files but thats all) !

If I plug the phone in with it alrready at the boot loader screen nothing happens, the s/w can't see it and the pc doesn't give the beep beep to let you know you've pluged a usb device in. Would it be safe to guess that it's screwed and should be binned ?

Sounds like drivers aren't loaded/wrong driver. The first time I put my phone in flash mode it asked for drivers again. I just pointed it to the p2k driver folder and everything was fine. You may have to delete your phone from the device manager and re-install the driver pack. Look here (http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=160)
for a more detailed explanation if needed.

This VOICE RECORD malfunction seems to be reasonably common.
I first thought it may be a software problem - reflashing didn't fix it.

After more searching, someone mentioned the keypad's flex cable, so I installed a new keypad - still no fix.

After further disassembly, I found the phone would work with the PCB surrounding the small LCD screen DISCONNECTED. This PCB contains the microswitches that are used for VOICE RECORD and the volume control etc.
Seeing as I never used this button anyway, I desoldered it from its mount. Would have been easy to simply cut it off with scissors haha.
Everything is back to normal now, sans the removed switch.

Worked for me. Hope this helps someone else, cos it's a f'n prick of a fault to deal with!
