hi guys,
my girlfriend has the v3 and recently the ringtones have stopped working. i think it may be the speaker because even if i go into the sounds under multimedia and push play on a certain sound....no sound comes out. i don't know much about theses phones, i myself have an l7. if anyone has any ideas as to why there is no sound, i would love to hear any suggestions. i have heard of a lot of problems with the razr. i hope my slvr doesn't start having these same problems a couple months down the road. thanks in advance for your help.

Try using P2K Tools and clicking Silent All, then clicking the Ringtone Fix button. Or try just going into the phone with any p2k program and deleting the two tone.db files and restarting.

do the sounds work for anything else? like a shutter sound, or poweron/powerdown sounds? if not then you might wnat to get a new speaker, cnn.cn always has good prices on stuff (like speajers) if worse comes to worse
try a Clear Reset, Then a Master Reset.

well apparently it was the speaker....no other sounds were coming out of the phone except the ones from the earpiece....motorola sent us a new v3 and now we have to ship the old one back....thing is the one we had was magenta pink and they sent us rose pink....now we gotta use the magenta battery door with the rose pink phone because they don't send you a new battery or battery door....LOL
you could always get a T6 tool and switch out the housings

I have a V3 that has developed a different sort of sound glitch. When I make or receive a call, the person can hear me, but I can't hear them. All other sounds work how can I fix this? If I use the resets (clear and master) it's asking for a Security Code, and I don know it. Plz advise.

Its nice that you searched before posting, but for the most part posting on this thread is somewhat of a no no (ie. its thread jacking)
on the other hand, the speaker that plays sounds and what not is different from the one that is used when making a call, that one is located above the screen, and is prone to corrosion due to moisture from one's hair or face getting into it, a light cleaning with alcohol should set you straight (you'd have to open the phone of course)
Its unlikely that a reset will solve this, however you can use programs like P2k Advanced Editor or mstools_8r to read the code from the phone, P2k AE should be available in the downloads section mstools is considered warez so you'll have to search for it (btw have you tried entering all 0's or 123456?)

Thread hi-jacking. that's something I wasn't aware of. Thank you Crim for helping me with my cyber manners. Should I move my post?
So, I did find the 0000000 worked, but, as you mentioned, it didn't fix the problem. And master reset seems way too scary.
Cleaning huh? I'll be glad to clean it up, but it seems odd that all other sounds work just fine, other than the incoming conversation being knocked out. I'll try the cleaning. I'm a bit intimidated to try PKing stuff. I'm just not that techie like. I'd seriously need micro directions to do that. Anyway, Thanks.

Does headphone work? And can you switch to outer loud speaker, when incall? Then its the mini speaker in the flip. Easy to replace, and cheap.

I don't have headphones. I can hear tones and the loud shut-down or start-up chimes, but nuttin' in-call. I don't seem to be able to get the speaker phone to work. I'm getting a little indicator icon on the top right of the display that shows a little speaker with a slash through it. If I tap the lower left button on the phone, the speaker phone doesn't activate. I'm wondering if somehow it got wet. Other ideas?

A master reset?... not sure how that came in:|
but anyway as i was pointing out earlier moisture is a factor to be concidered especially where that speaker is concerned.
moving on, both speakers can be replaced, but it'd still be proactive if you tried cleaning it and as i mentioned you'd have to open up the phone
if you're really quezy about opening it then maybe you could take it to your provider as it is now its a bit unlikely that a software solution will do you any good

I have no idea how it got wet, but there a big red spot next to the battery, when I take the battery cover off, so I guess that settles it. I'll try opening it up. Yeah, it's only dropped in-call sound. It seems like the in-call sounds would be muffled, and not totally wiped, so I hope cleaning will work. Wish me luck.

Good Luck! :) that little red spot is the moisture indicator under normal circumstances it should be white, which would indicate that the phone has not been exposed to any moisture, seeing that its wet, that would suggest that some moisture got in...
Remember a soft tooth bursh, and brush gently with only a dab of alchol

Okay. Well. I don't seem to have any loud speaker feature function available at all, and I can't figure out why. That little indicator icon of a black speaker with the slash through it is probably indicating something, but I can't tell what. When the phone is closed, the side buttons aren't working at all, other than the upper left button that shows the ring volume, but I can't adjust the volume cuz, like I said, none of the other side buttons are working. I'm so bummed to lose this razr, especially since verizon won't let me get a replacement phone at all unless I upgrade my contract - which is just mean! I'm trying to get that special computer cleaning alcohol to clean my phone with, so it's off to radio shack.

Whoa... Verizon. So it's a V3c or V3m. You can try new firmware for those phones, but don't use regular V3 firmware or modding software!
Still, best option continues to be to open it up and clean it out.

That icon with the speak with a slash through it means it is set to silent. Can you change the volume through the ring stlyes detail menu using the circular (dpad)?
