Ok, I had a hard time too. Thanks to all the previous threads for the help.

I'm getting the feeling that it might differ from on version of the v9 to the other. Mine is from Rogers (canada) and this is how I succeeded.

The file type has to be an MP4 without Video. The song could be more than 30 seconds and can be more than 300kb.

I used freeware called super from e-right soft (great to create ANY kind of media file)!!

With that software, select MP4 as output container, disable video (no video codec) and I have selected AAC as the Audio codec. Convert any audio file to that format and that was it! It didn't matter where I saved the audio file on the phone, the songs appeared in the ringtones of the media folder.

Good luck!

can i say e-right soft has the stupidest website, I can't find where the fk is the download button...the website looks like a freaking warez trojan site when all the writing and bad paragraph formatting.

Ok I get that Mp4's probably work for ringtones, BUT, what software you you using to put the mp4's on the phone. The Motorola tools will not see MP4's in a directory to allow me to install them to the phone.

thanks,

Philip

K guys,
First Ringtones are carrier dependant in US and Canada, which means if they want to, they will allow to have your own Mp3īs as ringtones.
How to test; simple put any Mp3 file no more than 64kbps and no more than 45Secs in the memory card, then with the Audio section in the phone try to set your ringtone from there.. if you can see it, thatīs it, if not, sorry dude Rogers locked the feature... Sames happens with Telus in canada and Verizon in the US

@Neddy Brukshot - Ok, download a piece of freeware called 'Super', found here...http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html.

Install and launch the program, right click on one of the sections, (I forget which one) to select the location of the converted files, otherwise they're dumped on the root of the C-drive, select the MP3's you want to convert and drag them onto the indicated box in the Super application. Select the output file type at top left, disable the video in second section and execute the conversion. Then use MPT to transfer to V9 or, you can activate Memory Card as USB connection preference and drag/drop through windows. It worked for me.

How do you convert mp3 to mp4 in Itunes? I have the latest Itunes version and I am unsure how. I must be missing it but if anyone knows that would help me.

Oh and Hi to the boards, I'm a new Motorola Razr2 V9 (Rogers Canada) user which I can't wait to mod! Thanks for everyones support on how to make their phones better.

Just thought I would throw my 2 cents in... just tried this earlier tonight with my Rogers RAZRē V9 - Using the latest iTunes, import the MP3 you want to use on your phone into iTunes, then find the file in the play list, right click on the file and select Convert to AAC. Using Motorola Phone Tools, import the .m4a file to your phone and you can now select it as a Ring Tone - iTunes was version 7.6?
