I have an unlocked Quad-Band GSM Razr V3. I've been happily using it on Cingular/AT&T for a couple of years now with no problems.

A couple of months ago, a friend was taking a trip to China. Since his phone is subsidy-locked to AT&T, I offered to loan him my Razr so he could use it while he was in China. He just bought a pre-paid SIMM over there and used that; instead of paying the terrible roaming charges.

He used a copy of Motorola's MPT package to back the phone up before he left. He then backed up *his* razr's phone numbers and restored those to my phone. All seemed to go well. He used my phone in China while he was there with no problems.

When he got back, he restored the backup he'd made of my phone; back into my phone. So all my contacts/phone numbers, etc. were back.

Now, when I power the phone up, after the "Motorola Razr" logo, I get a white screen that has "FTS" across the top of it. After a few seconds, the screen change to alternating white and orange lines with various engineering/field test data on the screen.

Even with my valid AT&T SIMM (the sim works fine in other unlocked razr's, in my other Motorola phone, and in my Blackberry 8700), I can't make or receive a call on the razr. I can't figure out how to get the phone to not boot up into this "FTS" mode, or how to get it to the point that I can make/receive calls on it.

Any suggestions?

it would be cool if someone knew how to get back from FTS mode and then posted it.

I have a v3 and it is in FTS now. I put apriestles "got N00B?" mp on it and it had the engineering mode availabilty in the menu.

I used to do this with nokias all the time and did not think that getting out would be a big deal, live and learn I guess.

If someone has the time and know how - it sure would be a good thing to post.

- Thanks

Press left softkey + menu to get out of FTS.
