W490 Troubles

Ok well im new here so hi my name is Benn... Im in the Army and happened to get a w490 from some guy that broke my phone.. I was going to sell it and just get a new At&t phone but thought hell i unlocked my Razr why not this...


--ONE PROBLEM--

Every site i go to and every program i find doesnt have/ support the w490 Has any one been successful in unlocking this phone? if so what do i need to do...

:shots: This phone is giving me a headache and I really want to call my family.. so please I need to know if I can unlock this or if i should just sell it for cash...

only way to unlock is subsidy code as this phone is brand new and according to some sources should'nt be out till jan or something like that i have that same phone and have not found a program to support it yet.. good luck on getting and unlock code..

tell them its against the law if they dont want to give it to you. raise hell if you have to! literly...:thumbsup:

I dont really know how much I would want havent researched what they are worth... Some guy in my unit dropped his m16 on my razr and broke the screen now i cant see shit so I took this as "permanent collateral"

ive got a w490 also. it can connect to p2k commander and F&B3 fine. it wants to crash my p2ktools before it connects though. although i havnt been able to back it up with FB3 because theres no profile for it.

moved to other p2k, hope you guys get some help with this, I havent really seen a lot about the Wxxx motos yet. I would get an eBay subsidy code if time is an issue. BTW, can someone post the SW version # and bootloader from a W490 please, just for my own curiosity?

well mine got very little water damage on it, but enough to mess up the flex, cause the screen sometimes turns white and wont load... but after 2 tres or so i was able to see the screen clearly.

well i've been able to back it up and change seems. although i dont have my tmobile simcard so i cant check to see if the seem changes worked. im trying to find some way to get a subsidy code for it but no luck so far.

can you please post what and how you backed up your phone? that would really help a lot in helping us learn how to mod it a lil bit more...

im just wondering how is it that people find out where the testpoints are located....

i did not use testpoint. i just installed XP on my dualboot vista. so i installed fresh moto drivers, ran p2kcommander, then was able to use F&B3 with a W510 loader and a w490 profile to back it up. I then was able to get p2ktools vs to work so i could seem edit.

so what version of F&B do you have? cause mine dosent even have any of the W's profiles....

Im using 3.0.7 with a profile from this forum and a w510 loader from a spanish forum.

i got the phone from my friend and its locked to tmobile. i havnt been able to find a program supporting the unlock for it nor a generous person to look up the IMEI in the moto database for a few dollars. i dont have a credit card so i cant do that.

without it being unlocked i cant get passed the incorrect sim screen. except i can press the camera key to bypass it, then access every menu from there (i can view pics, vids etc.)

To skin this phone, first you need to seem edit to "enable multiple skins", then you can use Z3 skins for now. Currently, I have ACID skin for z3(Arnee) and Blue Sphere for the z3. I'm sure others will work, just haven't tried anymore. BTW, if its been more than 90 days on that t-mobile phone, theres no reason why they shouldn't unlock it. Might have to try a couple times and if you have an email address, you're good to go.

i think the time is up..

i guess it wasnt only me that realized that this phone is very similar to the z3...

unfortunatly im stuck from modding it because i need a flex cale and no one sells it right now :(
so what seem edit did you use?
and what program to d the seem edits?

0032_0001 offset 8B bit 7
I used P2ktools and xvi32 to check for accuracy. Just back up seem 0032_0001 before you get started, you may make a mistake. Load 0032_0001 seem from the phone in p2ktools then save it to a folder. Then open the saved seem in xvi32, go to the address (offset 8B), then click "bit manipulation" and tick bit 7, then save in a different folder. Now open p2ktools and load from file and upload to phone, restart phone, go to personalize and you see the skins option.

im somewhat familiar with seem edits using those two programs. im pretty sure most if not all z3 skins will owkr for it. ill talk to pixlke to see if he can guide me on making a S4M module for the w490 that way we can create/port skins for the w490.
