View Full Version : Question about F/W upgrades for R4517

I've read the guide on the L7 but I didn't see anything about the firmware limitations. Is it a fact that the R4513 firmware flashes will brick the current R4517 firmware install? I've read in the other forums that this is true, but no where in the guide is it confirmed. Plus there doesn't seem to be very many options on firmware upgrades for the R4517.
I'm quite the newb with phone upgrades, but have been a modder for quite some time. So I just want to verify and maybe find out some ideas on the possibilities for modding this phone.
Thanks any ideas outside of skins would be helpful.

Yes, the phone WILL get bricked if you put the wrong firmware version on there. Good call, I'll add that to the guide.

So about the Yuet firmware... is that compatible with my phone?

According to his blog (http://***********************/2006/10/yuetmod-v1x-mp-for-v360l7.html), "3. Universal version for 08.D0 & 08.A0 bootloader." So I haven't verified it myself, but he says it will, and I believe him. :D Make sure its the version on the page I linked to there, older versions won't work.

Thanks agian I'll give it a try, I have a replacement phone coming from Cingular anyways so if it bricks the phone I'll just send it in and hope that they won't find out that it was my fault.... ;P

OK, the YuetMod v1.8 did not work, it goes through the steps in RSD Lite (I use version 2.7) and it completed and said PASS but the phone would not turn on... it just flahsed the keypad real quick and then was dead again. (I'm just guessing: but I think alot of people think that his means the phone is a brick after this happens) but because I had already run into this while modding skins (I deleted the Moto folder and found out the hard way that it is required...lol), I found the stock Cingular L7 MP for R4517 in the download section of one of these sites.
Therefore I pressed # * and Power at the same time to enter the Bootloader and now I'm waiting for the Stock MP to finish... and now it seems to be complete... Confirmed it looks like a brand new L7... guess I'll install all the other items now. and change up my menus. THANKs for the help and I really hope that this helps out anyone else..
