Hey guys. I'm working trying to get Opera Mini to work on a stock T-Mobile V3re. I've been using this browser quite successfully on a couple V3's and a V3r, and have been trying to get it to work on my V3re with the stock "My Faves" flex via seem editing. So far I've enabled the Web Sessions menu by changing Offset 2F bit 1's value to 1 in seem 0032_0001. From there I was able to add a new Web Session with the same settings I've used on the other RAZR phones. No dice. I believe GPRS is not active with this flex, as there is no indication of it with the typical active icon next to the signal indicator. I tried a couple seem edits with no luck. Anyone have a clue as to what seem to try?

I don't have any experience with the V3re, though I did with the V3r; I don't have much to offer except see if there is an a/mobile/kjava/certs/root/x509/domain_registry.sm file. If there is, try making a backup copy of it and then deleting it. That didn't so much make Opera Mini and other Java apps -work- but it enabled the Ask Once Per Session option for them. Couldn't hurt to try.

(Also, did you set the edited websession as the default?)

Yes I did set the new web session as the default. What happens is when I start Opera Mini it can't see any way to connect. It's basically in it's final stage of installation where it tries different ways to connect, but it finds nothing. During installs on my other phones I had to get past this stage before I ever saw the "ask once per session message." I'll try deleting the file you suggested after backing it up. Like you said it can't hurt. I'm still thinking though that GPRS is not functioning by default. I did a couple seem edits to make sure all GPRS icons were active, and yet I see no connection indicator in my upper left hand screen corner. My work around for this on one of my T-Mobile V3's was to simply flash it with a stock moto MP. But on this phone I want to keep the T-Mobile flex so I can use the "my faves" app. It may take some time, but eventually I'll get it to work. Thanks for your suggestion. I'll try it after work tonight.

Edit #1 - Holy crap Telyx you are the man (or woman if that is the case). The path was a little different, but I found it, and it worked!!!! Oddly enough I still have no GPRS network indicator icon, but Opera Mini is working. Once I get a couple other odds and ends sorted out in the next week or so I'll have to backup the flex and make it available for anyone that wants it. I need to register F&B and figure out how to add the V3re to it's phone list so I can do a proper backup. Thanks again. Hopefully when I can share this flex it will help out some other T-Mobile friends here.

Edit # 2 - Ok after a few more seem edits I have the GPRS indicator icons working correctly, and the data transferred info displaying after closing the browser. Mission accomplished.

If someone would be kind enough to explain to me how to update F&B to recognize the V3re, and how to properly back up the flex in .shx format I will do so. Do I then email it to one of the moderators to test and post up? Let me know what to do here guys. This is stock T-Mobile V3re flex with just a couple tweaks to get the stuff working that T-Mobile didn't want us to have. I have not added any pictures or ringtones or anything. I'll hit the factory reset to get all settings to default before backing up. Just let me know how to share it with you.

Noob question here, but I found the T-Mobile websession file for Opera Mini, but how do I d/l it and where do I put it? I did get Opera to ask for the setup option when I launched it, it went through all the tests and couldn't connect, so I assume I need the websession file in the right spot. I enabled websession in SEEM 0032 as per the above post, and have it available now on the menu, but when I select it nothing happens.

jklong03, you will not be able to install the pre-made Web Session file. For some reason PKToolsVS doesn't seem to be able to see the Web Session info like it can for other V3 models. You will have to add a Web Session manually. I have the info posted in another thread, but rather than you having to search for it here it is. By the way I hope you are signed up for "T-Mobile Web". It's the $5.99 plan. Otherwise you will get hit for data charges. The beautiful thing here is once you get this working you can surf the full web on the lower plan, and it's perfectly legal. :) Also if you can't figure out the GPRS icons let me know. I had to do a few more seem edits to get them to work, but they are all listed in the seem edit list available on this site.

Go into Web Sessions and make an entry titled T-Mobile (or whatever you want to name it). Enter these settings as I list them. The entries you will see in the phone that I don't list an entry for you leave blank. When you are finished you have to make this the default entry.

GPRS APN: wap.voicestream.com

Edit:Ok ignore this part. This is from my other post and is for someone who is putting this info on a stock moto phone. You already have all the MMS stuff since you are using the stock flex.

Ok for multi-media messages you need to make another entry. Name it MMS (or something else if you'd like).

Now go into your text message menu. Hit the menu button. Scroll to Message Setup and click it. Now click MMS Message Setup and Scroll to Server info. Delete any server info that is there. Add in your new server info which is:

Server Name: MMS
Server Name address: http://wap.myvoicestream.com
Web Session Name: MMS (if you named your MMS entry something other than MMS like I suggested then type that here instead)

I'm a guy... I know it's hard to tell when someone uses a nickname instead of a real name. (Telyx was my Dungeons & Dragons character from the early 1980s--a 19th level cleric/assassin.)
The V3re is apparently a whole different animal compared to the V3r--I'm glad you got it to work.

So you were a D&D player. I didn't get into the pen and paper version of D&D back then as a kid, but later on in the mid to late 90's I guess it was I was a huge Balder's Gate fan. It had a lot of fun playing a video game based on D&D. I was a fighter/Mage, and progressed my character through BG1 and then into BG2. I think I was up to some rediculous level like 40, although I'm sure that was much easier to do in a video game, unlike where you played for real.

Yeah, we spent many afternoons/evenings and the occasional all-nighter playing AD&D for a few years. At the time, the most advanced computer games were along the lines of "Tunnels of Doom" for the Texas Instruments TI99/4A, so it actually was better with the paper and dice and all that. Our characters started at level 1 (or was it 0?) and by the time we stormed Ravenloft, killed Count Strahd and his armies, and left the castle a smoking ruin with a 60-foot crater in the courtyard (thanks to a sudden meeting of two Hammers of Thunderbolts of opposite alignments--mine chaotic evil, the paladin's lawful good), we were all at levels between 18 and 21 or so. Great fun.

How can I get my V3re to let me change the default setting in the web session?

With p2k Tools 3 you have a setting specially for websessions, and there you can allow to delete or edit. I don't know if p2k Tools work with the v3re though. Maybe someone else can confirm.
