NEWBIE ALERT::
I tried following this (http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1128) to get obeymoto but could not get my V3re to work with it. My guess is that I need the vst files for language pack 1103 (my language list on the phone). Anyone have them, I'd love to get them.
Key notes during my process. I was able to backup with FB3.0.7.
P2Ktools 3.0.8 build 864 was not able to see the file structure but seemed to be able to read the 'seem map' (correct wording for that?) and most other phone modding items (skins, ringtones, menu maps, etc).
Used P2K commander from Here (http://s5vi.vxxxstuff.com) to achieve file viewing and modifying. Others may work also, but these are what I tried.
I don't care about modding that much but I'd rather have a brick than not have obeymoto. Corporate america ruining good inventions...Love the country but some things just amaze me.

I've just got my first phone and would like to increase the volume. I have a razr v3re, r3442a_G_oe.43.08r, Boot loader oc.c1. I've installed P2K Commander and it recognizies my phone. Is there any place I can learn how to use P2k to mod seems?

it is v3RE UNBRANDED UNLOCKED (bought from cosmote romania). i got the phone working with usb drivers from motodev (latest december i think) and p2kc 4.9 +skiman 0.51 recognized miy phone.

since it is my first moto phone my experience is close to zero regarding moding this type of phone.

first i want to ask some questions :

1.what skins are verified and working ok with v3re ? i understand that i should look ONLY for 3*3 skins and to avoid mmc skins.

2.does seem edit is working ok for this phone ?

3.what files i must NEVER DELETE ? i just want to free some memory.

4.how do i delete websesions ? some of them have a lock beside and cannot be deleted.

The only file editor that will read all of the files is MOST, found in the download section. The seem editor is not in english.
I was able to change the startup gif and shutdown gif using this program.

All I did was delete the old file and replace with my gif.

I looked around for a long time, and thought this may help someone.

I haven't done much to mine. I've changed cl.gif, one skin (most failed to work), deleted a bunch of stock images and some stock ringtones, hidden the operator banner with a seam edit, changed my call log to display all missed calls from a particular number (rather than the most recent) with a seam edit. Most frustrating for me was my inability to change the operator banner text. Also, when you delete a skin, the name of that skin still remains in your skins list-the phone simply applies the alkali skin instead.

About changing the operator banner on a v3re:

I've wondered if the file _op_greet found in the a: root contained the operator banner. Opened in a hex editor I found the string 08 6f | a8 01 | 30 6f | a8 01. Since I'm on AT&T I thought the a8 01 words might be for the letter T, but playing around with the bits and trying their 1s and 2s complements, I can't seem to come up with the correct ascii characters. Any suggestions? I hesitate to modify this file and "see what happens." I'm afraid these might be pointers to the real operator information stored somewhere else.

to tlhtr: I think you can use PKTools VS to change the volume settings. I had some trouble with the file manager but it has a nice, dedicated window for changing all the volume settings (gain tables). I haven't actually tried it on my own phone. Be careful. You can overdrive the small speakers inside your phone and blow them out.

regarding seam edits, the guides for the other versions of razr phones have worked pretty well for me to learn how to edit them. I've stuck to really simple edits though b/c this is a new model of phone. P2K Commander has a nice window with good descriptions of each seam bit and a check box to turn it on or off. This is easier than looking through the phone with a hex editor.

Thanx, I've opened p2kTools VS. Then to sounds and clicked on Gain_table.bin, download from phone, hour glass starts, stops and nothing shows up. All values in all screens (ie: main gain-Speakers_ headsets, etc are zero. How do change the right one?

Hmmm. Now that you mention it, I just tried the same thing on my phone and had the same problem you had. I also used MoST to download the "n_table.bin" file. (for me, MoST removes the first three chars of some file names, so I think this is actually gain_table.bin) Opening this file in a gain table editor called MotoSound did not work. The file had really weird values and MotoSound gave me an error message. Next, I opened this file in a hex editor and compared it to the v3 gains table posted at http://hackthev3.com/modifications_page1_motorola_v3.html. The gain_table is definately different on my phone. This is not the first file I've found on my v3re that doesn't have the expected contents. I don't know what to do to change the gains, but I'm going to leave it alone on my phone, at least until someone can figure it out.

For gain_table mod, I used the seem map here: http://modmymoto.com/wiki/index.php/Razr_v3_seem_map for setting my volume levels, although I set some at my own desired levels. I used Motosound 1.2.0.8.
1. Click connect at the bottom if not already connected.
2. Then click Load|From Phone, and wahhlah here are your values, change as desired.
3. Click Save|To Phone

i have been modding for a while (i have an L6) and my brother recently just got a v3re (R3442A_G_0E.43.08R) back in dec. it hasnt been giving him problems and it has not been modded at all because he's not into that. but tonight he came to me saying it wouldnt turn on. i tried it and when you hold in the power button to turn it on, instead of the key pad turning on and then the phone starting, when you press the power button it vibrates really quick, the keypad lights up, but the splash screen (hellmoto) comes on and freezes. eventually the keypad goes off and the screen just stays frozen. im wanting to know if theres anything i can do to fix this or should i just sent it back to at&t and replace it. ive even took the battery out for a little while to see what happens and it keeps doing the same thing. what the crap is going on?

if you need a full backup i can do that (with all the cg). i have no problem with bandwidth ;)
fb 3.06 worked ok...not problem detcting my phone using motodev drivers (19 dec). also p2k commander 4.9E works fine...as far as i can tell.

I did not use master clear or master reset before doing this backup....i also can post another backup after using master clear. hopefully not much personal data is inside ;)

vlad2006, :sigh: for the upload. I flashed it to my V3Re with no problems, just the usual stuff for websessions, lost my "MyFaves", stuff like that. But the THeme and Star-Trek Stuff are way cool and a lot of the things I have been trying to do with the display are just what I wanted anyway!

I think we almost have the makings of a MonsterPack here if you agree. I've added the funlights pattern that works with the V3Re and funlights and ringlights are working, I'll do a MotoSpeed update on it and a few other SEEM tweaks for us USA types, like 12:00 clock, maybe swap the default menus around some so that the select and back softkeys are reversed back the way at least my T-Mobile was always set up with "select" on the right and not on the left. But other than that, I think this is almost to the point where others would love to start playing even more with, so I'll try and MP it all together in the next couple of days (with your permission of course!!)

I have found one problem with the file I used to recover my trashed V3re and that is the quick notes in the e-mail section are in German and when you connect to the web it goes to a German website. I am on O2 and cannot get my phone to connect to their website. I have downloaded the O2 settings, but cannot find how to load them on my phone. Can anybody help please.

Im a newb at all this modding wording. What i want is to be able to unlock my V3re but all the unlocking threads i have looked at have had broken links or hace problems when i try to use winrar on them. Im wondering if you guys have the links to where i can unlock or get my computer to recongize the razr? Im also wondering where the skins are for my razr just. So to sum it up....

For some reason, I can't change the hellomoto splash screen on my RAZR Vre. I have tried p2k tools, motobotscreen replacer and flashbackup. Nothing seems to be abel to read or change any of the phone's data. I get a "error compressing data" in flash backup. P2ktools won't read the phone's files. How would I go about changing the boot screen? Does the phone have to be unlocked first?

I have already gone through the basics of modding the phone. I was able to change the start up and power down animations and sounds and the outside display image using p2kcommander, but have been unable to change the boot screen using any of the available software. I have been all over this forum looking for the answers and have not seen anything usefull. My phone is a Motorola RAZR V3re bootloader 0C.C1, sw version R3442A_G_.43.08R from AT&T.
P2ktolls has a function for changing the boot screen, but the program won't even read the data on my phone, much less write to it and p2kcommander can read the seems, but it won't write to it either. I don't see why it should be so difficlut to do something so simple. Thanks again and no more condesending remarks.

No offense was ever intended. If you re-read your original post, it sounded like the typical "help, can't connect my phone or read any files" we see so often. That, plus the fact that this was your first post is what lead me to believe that was the case. Had you provided the details of your success in modding to date, and the nature of your problem, I hope I wouldn't have jumped to the conclusion that you were a total nube.

Apology aside, I am afraid I can't offer any help, as I too have been unable to find the SEEM on our new V3Re's to swap the dumb blue Moto screen. As you may have already discovered, it appears the SEEM 004A offset 1C0 dosen't work as advertised for other V3R's.

Now, perhaps you can help me.:) ??
I too have a startup/shutdown graphic working using 0206/0208 to point to the files. However, I can't figure out how to do sounds. Do they need to be in AMR format to work. I was thinking that a simple .mp3 file, pointed to by seem 0208 would do the trick, but so far haven't been able to get one to work!:confused:


What is your secret for SU/SD sounds?

No harm done. I should have included more information. As far as the sounds go, I deleted the original Cust_Start~up.mp3 and Power~down.mp3 sounds in the a/mobile/audio folder and replaced them with new mp3s of the same filename using P2kCommander. v4.9. Just copy the files over-no seem editing. Hope this helps.

the phone only displays proper name for an incoming call when i use the international number format +40.... on cosmote.
using orange the phone only displays proper name when using the basic number format (without country prefix).

what can i do ? this is some network service problem/ sim problem ?

on a SE everything is ok. i can store the number in any format and it is no problem.

i read something about a seem edit for other versions of v3. could this be done for v3re ?

PS: do you see on the main display a tiny icon for EDGE ? i am in an edge area, have a working edge on a SE, but v3re does not display the edge icon.

To those of you who have successfully installed skins on the V3re, what method have you used to do this? Skiman doesn't work right. I have tried creating the new folder and dropping in the files in m-explorer, but it did not work. (Could be the skins don't work, but I thought I used one that was reported to work on the V3re) Any help please?

I have something special to be able to use it? wich Software and drivers that I have? Forgiveness by the question seems logical, but if I tried by all sides and is the first to see that fullfunctional MP with a telephone as mine. Thanks!

Vlad2006, i have a V3re as well, (amongst other MOTO models), and I use WIND GR provider. I also have a Cosmote GR here, and tested it through my V3re, and all is OK. Have you tried to go Menu>Settings>CallSettings>Prefix settings? If not, then go there and switch it to "No".
If you cannot find it on your Callsettings menu, then send a PM so I can get back to you for more info, or sweap through the forum M3. :thumbsup:

It's a DRM icon set. Changes the system icons of your handset. You should flash it into your phone.
DO NOT flash it to the regular V3r!!!

You may ask in the Font section, the LP is part of the Font and in there you will find a thread from kent_lkc for asian LPs and fonts as a sticky, ask him nicely and he most probably will come up with one.

I've was able to get FB3 and RDS Lite working and flash/updated my phone multiple times from one MP to another. With them either "bricking" the phone or giving a error (contact service provider) with inserting a SIM.

ok guys, i unbricked my v3re and put the iphone MP on with no problems but ive been clipping mp3 files using audacity and dropping directly into a/mobile/audio and some i can set to my contacts ringer id's and others dont even show up in the menu. if i go to fun&apps/sounds i can see them all and they play just fine. is there a certain file size or length they have to be to be used as a ringer id? thx in advance

Can you describe the audio settings on the .mp3 files you can use as ringtones, and on the others that you can't? Did you use the same audio settings for all mp3 rendering, or did you switch the bpm rate/sample rate?
You must be sure that the mp3 files will not have to be of a high quality, if you want your V3re to play them...
Start with 32kHz sample rate, and bit rate must be at around 96...

Hmmm. Now that you mention it, I just tried the same thing on my phone and had the same problem you had. I also used MoST to download the "n_table.bin" file. (for me, MoST removes the first three chars of some file names, so I think this is actually gain_table.bin) Opening this file in a gain table editor called MotoSound did not work. The file had really weird values and MotoSound gave me an error message. Next, I opened this file in a hex editor and compared it to the v3 gains table posted at http://hackthev3.com/modifications_page1_motorola_v3.html. The gain_table is definately different on my phone. This is not the first file I've found on my v3re that doesn't have the expected contents. I don't know what to do to change the gains, but I'm going to leave it alone on my phone, at least until someone can figure it out.

try to use the program Unimoto, you are able to see the values of the gain table, and other things that others programs could not see.

ok i figured it out. what i had done was deleted all the stock ringtones, but not the short "alert" type tones. when i went into contacts and tried to assign a ringer some of the tones i made were there but some werent, and there were a whole bunch of "default" tones with all the same sound so i just deleted everything in a/mobile/audio except the vavr folder and the ringers i made and now it works just fine. oh ya and btw i have some ringtones up to 1 minute long and every one of them i made is 128kbbs and the v3re plays them flawlessly

I have a razr v3re that i am trying to upload some games to. I have downloaded and installed EVERYTHING. I have PST, P2K, P2KMAN, P2kCommander, Midway, FB, and MPT.

So far, the only one that will actually connect to my phone is MPT. I am able to transfer tones, videos, and images back and forth from my pc to my phone. I have been using MPT for several months now and never had a problem with it.

Everything I have read so far says I need to do the following step on my phone first... Click Menu->Settings->Java Settings->Java App Loader. The problem is that when I click on menu->settings->java settings, I do not have the Java App Loader available. It's not even in there.

A friend of mine taught me the " hold * and # while powering on" trick to get to the boot loader screen. I plug the cable in and it is in Transfer Mode, but still none of the programs recognize that the phone is connected except FB and MPT. I have never modded a phone before, and am VERY nervous about doing something to it without having someone who knows what they are doing to help me. Hence me not actually using the FB yet.

Am I missing a step somewhere?

My carrier is AT&T prepaid (GoPhone). Can someone please help me get into my phone? I have been reading and researching, and trying everything under the sun now for almost 3 weeks trying to get a game on my phone.

UPDATE I was able to use FB to backup my stock MP. I then used the P2KTools (newest version) from the MMM DL section and was able to use that to Enable the Java App Loader. Then I used Midway to transfer the games. Thank you everyone who pm'ed me with help, and for the response in here.

klhdelt, try using Motomidman, from the ModMyMoto DL section, Softwares sub menu.

You only need to pay attention to the compatibility of the Java game you download. Not all midlets are for any model. Read the authors' description, on the games' compatibility, if any. If you are not certain about the model-to-game compatibility, then don't do it. (it's a waste of time).

As soon as you go through this, you will see the icon of the new game you downloaded onto your phone, displayed in the menu as an "inactive item". Activate it, and it will be in your Java Games list, as another application.
I think you don't need the Java App. Loader... :)

If Master Reset hasn't worked for you, try flashing an MP from the Downloads section (go Downloads>Phone files>V3re(R3442A)> then choose an MP).
To change the bootloader you need to testpoint the V3re. I don't see why you should do that, really...

BTW, did you make a backup copy of your stock MP, as it was BEFORE the deletion of these files you described? If yes, try to reflash your phone with THAT stock. If not, flash it with other MP.
If you don't know what to do, ALWAYS READ FIRST!! It will prevent you from bricking your phone...

Okay, now I have a new question.

Now that I am able to get into my phone, I have been playing around with it a little. My biggest beef now is trying to figure out how to change the annoying animations and sounds that happen every time I power up or down the phone (AT&T bars with a swoosh sound).

I read through jklong's guide, and was able to change the "Hello Moto" screen, but now I am wanting to change those stupid sounds and animations. I spoke with jklong and he couldn't remember how he did it, so he told me to ask in here.

Anyone got any ideas? Or is there a possible guide / walk-through on how to do it?

If someone can walk me through it or give me the steps/requirements, I will gladly create a walk-through/guide and post it on here (as well as another MP once I get everything in order)

It used to be a common problem with the v3 R374, and needed reflashing the Bootloader. It was always a Bootloader conflict. Now the v3r never had that problem, and I am surprised that motorola has gone back to the old faults with the v3re. If you can get hold of the Bootloader you need and hqave, reflashing it would do. Tell us what BL you need.

easiest thing to do is get Motorola Phone Tools and use it. The latest version has features setup on it already so you can create your own ring tones from your computer, and transfer the files (audio, video, image) to your phone.

It also has a neat phonebook / contact backup feature so you can always have a record of your contact list saved on your computer.

Hm... I don't mean to contradict... but I'd be VERY hesitant to use MPT. I've never had any success with it. In fact I've had so many problems, I just got rid of it. I've heard many many other v3re users say the same. I would just use M-Explorer to add your ringtones and wallpaper, and P2kTools to backup your contact list.

I am using MPT version 5.0.7a 04/01/2008 (080401011430), and i have had no problems with it in any shape or form.

The only "issue" i have had with it is that i have to start the program before i hook my phone to my pc. Then when it asks to make sure phone is connected and turned on, I plug phone in then hit the OK button, not the Redetect button. After that it works great. I even use the media editor in it to create my ring tones instead of some external program (e.g. taking a 3 min song turning it into a 30 sec clip for a ringtone).

On Mototrola's site you can pay $29.95 to download the latest version or $34.95 to have them send you a copy on CD. On Ebay, most prices (for the CD) hover around $6 but they can get as low as $2.

On the other hand, Motorola includes the CD with many of their phones and MPT is *very* easy to find on the intarwebz--and any copy will automatically upgrade to the latest version if you click the "upgrade" button.

I'd have to install it again, but I don't remember seeing any restriction on redistribution in the EULA (though I admittedly generally breeze through them). If there's no restriction there then the program is legally a free program and Motorola is charging purely for convenience in their distribution. Even if there *is* a restriction in the EULA, though, it seems to me to be treading a grey area since at least some versions are available on anti-warez sites (suggeting at least that version is free) and all versions automatically upgrade...

But I'm installing a copy for my boss as it's very easy to use, he's only interested in backing up info and installing wallpapers, and I've had to show him how to run antivirus software. He's not very technically minded, and MPT seem perfect *for him*...

Yeah, you can't unlock it with an MP. I posted this on another thread, but there are only three ways of unlocking your phone: Ask your provider for the subsidy code, buy the subsidy code, or use a smart clip to unlock it (requires using the test point method.) I recommend the first, if you can.

I replied to your other post. Here's the answer:

You have a v3re case. If you want to be sure if it's a v3re, go to Settings>Phone status>Other Information>S/W Version on your phone.

If it starts with R3442A, it's a v3re. If it starts with R3443, it's a v3r.

You will have to see if the MP has my faves enabled. If it does not, the my faves application will not work on your phone! You can still have your faves, and just edit them online, but not on your phone.

Hi, I am happy to find this forum. It is very helpful with so much information.
My phone died so I will be using V3re for these time until I decided to get a different phone. I used to modding my Razr V3 time ago when the other forum MotoX existed, now I gonna start to modding
this V3re. The first problem was the use of the MPT. I found a copy of the MPT 5.0.5 and it did not work with the phone. It was not recognize.
However, the program did not update and said that it was the last version. So, I was surfing and I found this article Free Upgrade to Motorola Phone Tools V5 Available! (MPT 5.0) http://www.somelifeblog.com/2008/10/free-mpt-v5-50-phone-tools-motorola.html.
So, I thougth if I get a version earlier I could get a complete upgrade.
So, I googled MPT.v4.3.6c.zip and installed it; however, the program just upgraded automatically to v4.5.6a. But, It worked with the phone and it is recognize as V3re. Of course I could keep upgrading but I am not sure if it will recognize the phone.
I will try but I least I have already all my contacts in the V3re.

I used to have a Moto V190 phone. Every time I added a contact to the phone, i would copy my address book over to my SIM card, and it would automatically overwrite any data that was on there. However, now that I have a V3RE, I am running into a problem.

I have around 35-40 contacts in my phone's address book. I have copied them over to the SIM card numerous times as I have added several contacts and I copy each time I add.

I went to do it again today, and got a message that my SIM card was full. I switched the view of my address book from listing just the phone contacts, to listing just the SIM contacts, and saw that I had like 8-10 copies of every entry of my contacts in there (except a few that were fewer because they had been added at a later time).

My question is this: Is there any way that I can wipe all the contacts off my SIM card, so I can have it clear so I can copy my entire address book over to it? I now know that in the future when I copy an entry over, I do it individually not the entire address book.

Any ideas?

I have an idea. First of all, make sure all of your contacts are on the phone. Then do this:

Open your phonebook. Hit the menu button and go down to "Delete All." It will prompt you to choose whether you want to delete your phone contacts, your SIM contacts, or all contacts. Just choose SIM contacts.

Then hit the menu button and go to "Copy" and select "All to SIM."

As a precaution to guard against any random problems, back up your phone before you do this.

This should do it for you. :)

Same here, I have At&T s/w and I don't have a delete all option. When I shipped the phone and sim I deleted each contact one at a time......all 150 of them. I looked all over trying to find a quicker way and couldnt find one.

I'm not sure if this will work, but try opening up your SIM contacts in P2kTools (AT mode.) And delete them all that way.

I did find another easy / quick way of doing it. I took my SIM card, and stuck it in my old V190 phone, and used the Delete All option that it had, then put it back in my V3RE and copied over my contacts.

I will take a look at the P2KTools suggestion to see if it will work for me as well. Just in case this ever becomes a problem again and I don't have my old V190 anymore.

There is a seem edit for the "Delete All" option in the phone book, offset 97, bit 1, set to enabled. Don't know if it works for V3re though, try it.

If you dont want to change on the fly, then just download and open Mexplorer, in the v3re look for the system folder. In there is the cl.gif - make or reduce a pic to 96x80(if I remember the size correctly) and replace the cl.gif in that folder.

so i guess its locked.

Your v3re can only be unlocked via the Code from the Provider, or with very expensive gadgets, like the smartclip. The unlock with software, only works for older Razr models.

Been working on it.....Swapping out different lang's and such. Tryn to find a way to have different fonts( i know, i know, prob not gonna b successfull, but Im still gonna try). And renaming lang's, just experiementing around with MotoLangEditor. Just very time consuming, and with the ole health not cooperating, and the 4 daughters, time is a valuable commidity. lol
