View Full Version : Ok here it is: T-Mobile V3re modified flex
V34ME

Alright guys here is the stock T-Mobile V3re flex I promised to share. It's completely stock except for the slight mods I have listed here.
1. Opera Mini web browser installed
2. Web Sessions Menu no longer hidden
3. Custom Web Session for Opera Mini (set as default)
4. GPRS icons activated
5. Data transferred message shown upon browser close
Otherwise this flex is completely stock. I have added no other files, and all settings are set to default. Opera Mini was tested and worked great.
The only thing I was not sure about when creating the .shx file was whether or not I should choose the "cut empty boxes at the end of code groups" check box. It was selected by default so I left it that way.
By the way my V3re is still locked to T-Mobile, so I assume if you have unlocked yours this will re-lock it. Someone correct me if I am wrong here. I will upload again after I unlock the phone.
Anyone want to test this file?
Enjoy! :)
Edit: Link removed. File is now in the download section.

If you have time, could you post one compiled with the "cut empty bytes" box NOT checked, just in case? I don't know if it makes much of a difference, but having both available would be nice in case the first one doesn't flash right.

I did and it worked great!!!! :good:
Used RSDLiteV3.9, loaded fine and then restored my user-data backup and all works great! Of course, had to re-personalize it, but hea, small price to pay for such a simple way to get Opera instead of that Clunky stock browser!!!
Great Work!! Do I sense a Monster Pack in your future once other hacks are figured out??

Telyx, I could re-do it, but it looks like Jklong03 has already tested it. Does anybody really know that that check box does? There are two different tutorials here on this site. One shows it checked and the other doesn't. It was the one thing I wasn't sure of.
jklong03, hey that's great I'm glad it worked for you! I realized one thing I had forgot after I woke up this morning. I hit the master reset, but not the master clear. I had figured the master reset did both, but apparently it did not. I believe if you look in your call records you will see my incoming and outgoing calls. I had forgot to erase them. Don't forget to refresh your my faves too as I'm thinking it had my numbers stored there as well. I'm going to have to re-do this again, but I'm going to wait until I unlock the phone and then do a complete Monster Pack. I'm really glad this file worked for you. So we know it works and others can use it if they want. I promise in the next week or so I'll have something new.

Nope, My Favs are restored, and I only listed my call activities. Of course, since getting things from your d/l working, I of course had to keep playing and in the process locked the phone up once and had to remove battery. But no, your personal info isn't loaded when I flashed it appears. Again, this is great! I will probably go back now and pull the MotoSpeed I had done before I reflashed and pop it in.
Couldn't get an answer to this question on Opera's website.
How do I get it to remember my userid and password for sites, such as my yahoo! mail???
I created a shortcut after I had typed it in and logged in, but when I go back to that bookmark, it prompts me for them again!!:puke:

Oh good so when I created the flex F&B ignorned those couple personal settings I didn't reset correctly. That's great. Now I don't have to re-do an interim version before I unlock the phone. Now if we can just get an Administrator to put the file in the download section. Thanks again for doing the testing.
As far as Opera remembering passwords I don't know. I never tried to get it to do it. I basically use it to surf news sites like CNN and Fox news when I'm on break at work. I work in an iron foundry, so it's like my link to the outside world when I'm on break. All I ever do with it is read the news, so I haven't looked into the password issue. Sorry I wish I could be of more help with that.
Let me know how your Motospeed mods work out. I haven't attempted any of them, but if you notice any decent gains in any specific area let me know which mods did the trick.
Oh and update your sig's flex info. I don't know if you noticed but your old flex had a slightly different hex name. I think the "Y" in your old one is now a "T".

Thanks cash7c3. Can I bug you for one more thing. Would add to the description that the file was tested by jklong03. This way others will know it's not a risk as it was verified.

Opera does remember unames and pwords so you don't have to enter them every time you go to M3 or yahoo etc.
As far as accessing email I use Gmail... very nice java program IMHO.

I must be doing something wrong then. Cuz, I go to Yahoo Modile E-Mail, enter my username and password and login to my mail. Then I bookmark that current, logged page. When I go to that bookmark, I am prompted for same info again!!
One more thing, am I correct in using the V3R_06 Profile in F&B3_0_6 to get successful transfers of saving/loading CG's? Otherwise, I always seem to get a Fatal Error when the loader is done uploading and tries to jump to the actual transfer of the file.
Anyone else experience the same, or else found another Phone Profile that works reliably??:o?

jklong03 : Question for you:
I have the same phone you do (I think). Do you use a USB cable, and if you do, what steps did you take to get your PC (I assume) to recognize it. I am unable to establish communication with mine. Ive loaded all the latest drivers.
Thanks

Not sure of exactly which version of drivers I am using, I have installed so many different P2K packages, different versions of same ones and different types. All I know is that right now, I generally have success connecting using the following software packages with whatever drivers I have installed:
MPT 4.0
Flash & Backup 3.0.6
RSDLite 3.9
MoST Preview
MotoSpeed V1.1
P2KCommander 4.9E
P2KTools 3.04
Got most of them through this site and some "other" sites via Google. Gotta know where to look I guess! Anyway, sometimes I have to tinker around with the order in which I launch programs, then plug and unplug, etc to get a good P2K connection, and sometimes I have to let MPT reconfigure after I have run some of them, but MPT always comes back! Don't have any real sage advice except for, "Don't expect to d/l and install any old program and have it work the first time, then give up if it doesn't! Gotta keep trying different combos of things and be logical in the order you do it. Oh, yes, it also helps to read the Guides!"

F&B 3.0.7 is out now, and has profile "Motorola V3re (V3 06)". That's the one I used.

Got a link to it? That sounds like it may be a nice way to go for email on my phone. Any special settings needed to get it functional? Thanks in advance.

Removing the signal icon can be done thru seem edit, but you don't want to disable GPRS or you won't have text messaging.
GPRS or Global Packet Radio Service is how your text and picture messages are sent, you connect to the internet as well with the same connection on your phone.
GPRS and WAP in concert are how you're connecting to the internet with your providers browser. If you pay the additional $5.99 a month on Tmo for Tzones you can connect with Opera on your phone and get the REAL internet.
What you have deleted could cause some very serious issues that you weren't counting on when you went off delete happy... :fryingpan:
@Everyone who has been playing with this model,
Has anyone tried editing the GPRS text? *the text displayed when connecting and while connected to the GPRS server, this is in the date field on the phone.
I know you can do it with P2K Advance Editor on all the other Razr's... hmmmm.

I hope he won't mind my offering, but I know V34ME customized his Flash to include the GPRS icons, so he may be able to offer some additional help if you PM him or do it in this thread for all of our benefit.
RazrDyke, same comment, V34ME played around alot with the GPRS stuff, maybe he has some insight?

I have deleted ALOT from my v3re and everything still works great. I have 7732 kb's free and working on more. I have a back up that I have already used several times. I have been playing with this phone since I got it 3 months ago. The only thing I cannot do is install Java Apps. Any suggestions.

bmax, I'm not sure why you installed my modified flex if you didn't want Internet connectivity. That was the entire point of the modification, since otherwise the flex is stock. The easiest solution if you really want the GPRS icons shut off would be to simply flash your stock flex back. If you didn't keep a backup there is a MP in the download section. You can flash only the flex portion of it with F&B. Of course you could reverse all the seem edits I did as well. I should have made a list of them while I was doing it, but I didn't. If I went through the seem list again I could figure them all out, but that's kind of a pain in the butt. I'll do it if you want me to. The reason you were not able to make them go away with the seem edit you did is because I actually activated about 4 or 5 different seems to get things working correctly. Some seems deal with what icons are shown depending on what is going on, and some deal with whether or not each icon is actually shown. Basically you simply need to turn a few more of them off.
As far as Java apps go I enabled the Java App loader in this flex, so if you still can't get things to work try bluetooth. I've noticed a lot of people have issues using the various USB connectivity programs to install Java Apps. Most people don't realize it's way easier to just bluetooth them over. You will need a bluetooth dongle for your computer, and you need to pair the phone and the PC together. After that it's a cake walk. Simply send the .jar file from the PC to the phone. The phone will ask if you want to accept the file. You say yes. After it's done loading it will ask you if you want to install. You say yes. Easy easy easy...the app loader does all the work.
jklong and RazrDyke, I really didn't do anything as far as GPRS is concerned. I only activated all the DRM icons that show it's status, and input the proper settings in a custom Web Session so that it was possible to access the open port on T-Mobile Web. I didn't mess with anything in the code that effected the functionality of GPRS. I only messed with how to access it.

I deleted all stock images and sounds. left in funlight.pat and t-mobile ring tone. I only use aol im so I deleted all others. I deleted all im expressions as I do not use them. I deleted all ems files in the picture folder. I disabled all t-mobile web sessions seem functions as I do not use my phone for internet. I tried it but didn't like it. MMS still work. I deleted all preloaded my fav icons. I deleted everything in the mms template folder. There is more but I am at work right now. Email me @ bambam0510 at aol and I will send you screen shots of pacific folders if you would like. That way you could see exactly what I have left.

One more thing. The grps icons are always there until I sign on to aol im. When I sign off they are gone until I restart my phone. Weird!!
I also deleted all skins except alkali. When I tried to delete alkali it bricked my phone. I reflashed and it fixed it. I also enabled a seem edit to allow me to delete themes and I deleted all of those. The skins names are still in my options but everyone I click on is alkali.
Thanks V34ME for the java app loader on your flex. I finally installed games. I used midway 2.8. Worked great.

bmax, I went through all the GPRS seems and made a list of all the ones I made sure were active in my flex. This is not a complete list of any and every offset that pertains to GPRS. This is simply a list of all the ones I made sure were active. Here is the catch. A couple of these were already active with the base T-Mobile flex I started with, and to be honest I don't remember anymore which ones they were. I can only tell you for certain that all of these are turned on in my modified flex. You will have to experiment with which ones you turn off.
SEEM 010a_0001
offset 00 - bit 0: GPRS auto-attach at power-on (1 on, 0 off) (if bit 1 is on, auto-attach will be off)
bit 1: GPRS detach after GPRS data session (bit 0 must be on to activate)
SEEM 0032_0001
Offset 17 - bit 7: GPRS Capable (1 on, 0 off)
offset 40 - bit 1: Display 'GPRS Attached' icon (1 on, 0 off)
offset 41 - bit 5: Display: GPRS Icon Indicates Current Status (1 on, 0 off)
offset 4B - bit 2: Byte Usage Summary at End of GPRS Session (xxx bytes transferred) (1 on, 0 off)
offset 60 - bit 0: 'GPRS Active' text with GPRS PDP Context Icons (1 on, 0 off)
offset 68 - bit 4: GPRS Packet Data Transfer Icon (1 on, 0 off)
offset 6B - bit 5: GPRS Packet Data Icon (1 on, 0 off)
Has anyone tried editing the GPRS text? *the text displayed when connecting and while connected to the GPRS server, this is in the date field on the phone.
I know you can do it with P2K Advance Editor on all the other Razr's... hmmmm.
I haven't tried it, but it is active on one of my R374's. I did find this seem info.
SEEM 01a8_0001 - controls Date/'GPRS' displayed in second line of home screen under carrier name.
It's too bad it doesn't tell us what the offset and bit are.

V34ME, THANKS for providing this flex! My first time flashing a phone and it's worked beautifully. Very generous of you.
I have a question: I'd like to run Google Maps, and was able to download it and install it using the instructions at http://www.howardforums.com/archive/topic/970116-1.html However, once the app loads, all I get is a blank screen, with navigation at the bottom ("Menu" and "Cancel", I think).
Have you had any luck with Google Maps on your V3re?
