I just purchased Srpint L7c phone. All I want to do is hook it up through USB to transfer MP3's, ringtones and wallpapers. I already downloaded the drivers and the phone recognized by the pc as a Motorola modem. I also downloaded Mobile Phone Tools v3 from the net. (Mobile Phone Tools v4.3.6c gives an error: Error Initializing mobile phone tools when starting up-therefore I had to install the older version). When I plug it in it picks up the phone fine but the only thing I can do is transfer the calendar, sms and other text files. MP3 and walls icon on the pc are grayed out.

What else do I need?
How come v4.3.6c doesn't work on my pc?

I also tried BitPim but that doesn't work either.

Thanks in advance. PLEASE HELP!!!

Ok, this is some new territory. Verizon locks out their phones from using MPT too. First try choosing a phone manually and pick the e815. If that doesn't work, then do this seem edit and see if it works:

seem 2742 Offset 6A Bit 0 check to enable

i got everything connected using MPT v.3.11. everything works great. I can upload/download ringtones, walls. Except MP3's. When I browse dir's on the phone I see MUSIC folder but when i try to upload it comes up with an error. I can upload MP3 files to the voicerecording folder but not MUSIC which doesn't do any good. Do i need to change something??. or maybe modify the mp3 file??.

thanks
shane

I have discovered the answer to your problem! It's not what you want to hear though :(

...The V3M... because it syncs with Windows Media Player and uses the Verizon UI, Does not have that ability with MP3's....

On the V3M, if you want play lists, and "music player" type features, you must use the Verizon Music Player which only plays WMA files on that phone... The WMA's must be put in the /MY_MUSIC folder on the card, or you must sync the phone with WMA to get them there...

...For MP3's, other sounds, pictures, and videos/movies... the default location on the V3M is the ROOT of the TF card... Put them anywhere else, and the phone wont seem them... BUT you can change this... (good idea since the card is formatted as FAT)... see ITEM #35 on the HOW TO's ...
http://mark.cdmaforums.com/V710_TransFlash.htm

To load them to the root directory of the TransFlash/MicroSD card, you have to use p2kcommander. To play them you have to use the "Create Playlist" feature on your sounds menu.

It would probably be easier to just convert them to WMAs...

Ok, i got it work. It's so much easier to simply take out the card and stick it into a card reader. Then i'm able to browse the directories and transfer files. I also got this work with the USB cable. I was able to transfer only 1 song though before my pc froze. I'll try playing with it and post my finding here later. thanks for all your help.

Ok, I finally figured it out. HERE ARE MY FINDING- TO CONNECT L7c to PC.

For transfering screensavers/ringers/walls I used Mobile Phone tools v.3.11.

When using Default CDMA driver the "MEDIA" Icone in MPT will be grayed out. You need to change it to V710m. then the icon will be clickable.

Once you're there you'll be able to transfer walls/ringers and screen savers.

However MP3 file transfer will not be possible - at least I coudln't get it to work.

TO TRANSFER MP3'S

The easiest way is to bye a card reader and simply take out the card and put all your mp3s into the MUSIC folder. Once in simply go to MUSIC -> srpint music store app will open. select "All my music" -> then you should see all your MP3's. This worked for me.

Another method to transfer MP3s to the phone is to purchase a bluetooth device ( I purchased IOGEAR bluetooth for mobile phones). it works excellent. simply plug it in, install the driver that comes with it and enable bluetooth on the your phone -> AND YOU'RE SET !!.

Hope this helps. But it took a while fighting with SPRINT's locked phone. :)

Excellent! I'm gonna put this in a new thread and sticky it!

I did it with MPT 4.36c or something like that and There are three different L7c's to choose from, just choose the one from Sprint(i don't have sprint) I could do everything even transfer MP3's.
