Ok, so i just got my phone today its a gci phone (Anchorage, ak). Its silver and a RAZR. Thats about the extent of my knowledge. I managed through a few hours of reading and combing through multiple forums to find and get installed a driver so my computer recognizes the phone. However using the p2kcommander it will not even recognize my phone, niether will it recognize it with motorola phone tools. It is as is my phone just does not exist according to my computer, but it does charge.
PLEASE HELP
i forgot to add, what i want to be able to do is pretty simple, i just want to upload a few pictures and a make a few mp3's into ringtones.
also my S/W is

Jab,
First off, props for reading the guides before posting!! Secondly, don't forget to key in, in rapid order the following: *#9999#
That will tell you the S/W version your phone has. Compare the basic "RxxxxX" string to those listed in the forum descriptions for each model and that will help you identify exactly which Razr you bought. (EDIT: Oops, didn't see the bottom line of your original post!, ignore this, but I'll leave it in for others)
As for getting recognized by the computer, I have found that disconnecting the phone, then shutting down all P2K programs, including the little "P2KCommander star" in the taskbar by your clock (right click it, make sure the AutoSwitch to P2K is checked, then exit the daemon) is the first step. Next, leave phone disconnected, start P2KCommander, double check the little "star" again to make sure AutoSwitch is enabled, THEN plug in the phone. Bear in mind, it will take several seconds for all of the devices to load (you should hear several XP "boops" as 3 or 4 devices load).
Give me more details of your phone version and software setup if that doesn't help and I'll see what I can figure out.
a little late on the reply are we?

Try removing the modem device in device manager and re-installing if you haven't already done that. Also, I recommend you use the Version of the drivers that comes with the latest release available (V3.2.0 ) If you haven't registered at MotoDev, please do so, that way you can legally obtain the drivers.

If all you want to do is create mp3 ringtones and load pix the easiest program is Motorola Phone Tools. You can either buy it from Motorola or maybe your service provider. Or just Google it to locate a source for (free?) download. I have been able to make ringtones, create picture caller ID and load the phonebook from my old V3 onto my new V2re using it. Piece of cake.
another way if you want to do this is a bluetooth dongle they have them at radio shack u can plug it in usb port and just bt the tones to your phone.
