Well, i was playing around with my phone and i dont know if anyone knows about this, Ive never heard of it before so im guessing im the first, but im probly not. lol

to Change your boot/shutdown Splash screen just choose a gif (240x320) and name it splash_pwr_up_a_full.gif/splash_pwr_dwn_a_full.gif then upload them to /a/mobile/system/

on 3 is: three_pwrup_a_240x320 /three_pwrdwn_a_240x320
on vodafone:Power_Up /Power_Down

@JJ: You were hanging in there for a moment:clap:

Extract from para 1.7.3 (Custom Startup/Shutdown.....) of the V3xPG
*****ALTERNATIVE METHOD that Works (backup these 2 files first!):

1. Create you own GIFS (sized the same as the 2 named below) and name them as follows:

a. splash_pwr_dwn_a_full.gif
b. splash_pwr_up_a_full.gif
2. Backup the original files identified above to your hard drive
3. Copy your custom made, and appropriately named GIFs to a/mobile/system
4. Power cycle your phone and you should see your custom startup and shutdown GIFs

This was a good reminder regarding the different names for non-branded and other branded firmware. I'll update the Guide to account for the differences.

Thanx!

I was able to change the Splash screens on my unit. Just a note, though. I think one should limit the gif animation to about 2-3 seconds for it to show properly, especially for the closing splash screen.

At over 3 secs., & the closing animation won't get completed, & the phone sort of "hangs", wherein you have to press the Power button also briefly to turn it completely off.

I edited my animations to have around 2-3 secs. run time using GIMP.
