I was recently given a MetroPCS L7c SLVR and I was wondering if it would be possible to use it with Alltel?

I know that it is a CDMA phone and that Alltel uses CDMA as well, but that's pretty much all I know about phones at all. Would I be able to just call them like I normally would and have them switch my service to the phone? (doubtful). Or would I need to flash the phone to another firmware? (I read somewhere that Alltel's K1m firmware worked with the L7c, but I'm not really 100% on this stuff.)

Any help would be appreciated.

Edit : To be really precise : I know you can flash a Verizon L7c to the Alltel firmware, but could I follow the same process with a MetroPCS phone (or would using the same files and all brick my phone?). And if so, could I then use the phone with my Alltel service?

you can flash to alltel
check here for firmware

when you go to switch to alltel service. call them up and register the phone but do not tell them your phone is from metro pcs.(most of the time it works)

Alright, thanks! I'm gonna flash it in a few minutes, I'll post info on anything that comes up.

I'm pretty much going by that, would that be wise? I know there's another guide that says to do a bunch of backups (flashing the k1m). Should I go by that instead? (I am flashing the k1m firmware to it, so it makes a little sense lol).

Edit : Just saw the Monster Pack on that page, for some reason methinks THAT is what I should be using lol.

lol, didn't see that button down there!

But yeah, got it flashed. Gonna program my CDMA Sys ID into it and stuff now, then I'll call Alltel about the ESN swap. Pretty much just used RSD Lite and the Alltel K1m MP and it worked without a hitch.

But again, thanks a lot.

Final update - Got it switched over. She (CS rep) asked what kind of phone it was, I just said it was a Motorola and that was all I knew :p.
