Is this a V3? And if so....

Hello all Im a new member today and just introduced myself in the general forum.
I am at the first step in this undertaking, as my brother has asked me to do, the modding of his Razr. It seems to me , the first step would be to identify this model for certainty, before I go changing anything.
I have read the "V3 specific" page at "the Moto guide".Yet I do want to ask for any clarifications about anything I should know before flashing, flexing, yada yada.
I have, over the last few days been learning to do some seem edits on my own V3m so, I do have a TINY bit of orientation so far.
So, I'll try to articulate some questions and PLEASE, feel free to offer anything that a newbie would not anticipate.
here goes...

#1 Is there a way to determine for certain the model of this phone? It does say "V3" under the battery. Would that description bother to say "V3c" if it were a V3 + c?

#2 My brother gave me his cingular sim card from his current phone to insert and use in the Tmobile V3? Razr. Is this possible to acheive.If so, how so?

#3 Should I, and can I backup this Razr first? If so, How do I begin?

#4 if we can make this work, will cingular (theoretically) help him to set the phone for use on their network or, is that something that this forum can help with?
Those are my initial questions. BELIEVE me, there will be others!

1. One of the best ways to determine whether it is a V3, is by the firmware.> Go into settings>Phone Status>Other information..select and copy the information under Flex version and S/W Version. If the S/W starts with R374_G_, then u are in good shape.

2. You need to unlock the phone if it isn't already unlocked. Check here http://www.modmymoto.com/unlock/.

3. Also in the Guides "Backing it up" - http://www.modmymoto.com/guides/razrbackup.php

4. Cingular can give you the WAP settings for internet, if not here in the forums, I am sure someone has them.

Thank you.I am reading the info you posted.
Also, I failed to mention that ,with the cingular sim placed into the Tmobile Razr, I am first prompted for a subsidy code. so, I guess that is the first issue I must approach. Any suggestions?

The cingular sim not work until the phone is unlocked. Check the unlock guide (http://www.modmymoto.com/guides/unlocking.php). It's almost scary how easy this is to do.
