here's another great guide made by nanoali. With this tutorial, you can change the original sounds like low bat, connecting the phone to charge, ending a call, etc

We need:

USB cable
Correctly installed drivers
P2KTools correctly working

Editing WAV sound software (you can use the stock sound recorder from windows) the WAV file quality must be 8khz, 8 bits and mono.

So, to change it, just edit seem 0032_001
Offset 82 bit 6 - “WAV_UI_AVAILABLE” - “KEYTONE” (check it)
Offset 6D bit 6 - “INTERPRETE_KEY_PRESS_AVAILABLE” (check it)

Upload your customs WAV files to: /a/ (the files must have specific names, see below for more information.)

Restart your phone and voila, you have the customized sound
here are the names you must use:

LBatChrg.wav ---> start batt charge
LEndList.wav ---> end batt charge or end of serie
LBatLow.wav ---> Advert low batt
LKeyMenu.wav ---> Accesing to "menu" via menu key
LKeySend.wav ---> send key or calling
LScroFst.wav ---> fast scrool
LKeyEnd.wav ---> end key
LError.wav ---> errr sound
LScroll.wav ---> normal scroll
LKeyHold.wav ---> holding the menu key for a shortcut
LSoftKey.wav ---> joystick key sound
LCalTimr.wav ---> 1 min beep on a call
LDevDrop.wav ---> disconnecting device
LDevCnct.wav ---> connecting device
LNegate.wav ---> you can do the feature you whish
LCalDrop.wav ---> Error of network or wap
LConfim.wav ---> there is no confirm
LDelText.wav ---> delete text

Personal Note:
If you delete the files, the phone will use the normal sounds again, theres no danger of anything.

You must have bootloader 7.D0 installed on the V3, 8.xx bootloaders such as 8.23 and 8.26 will not work.

If you have bootloader 7.E0, 8.23 or 8.26 downgrade the bootloader first. Here is the bootloader downgrade flash.

Things Needed:

The modded firmware (no rsa security) . This modded firmware already has the RSA protection removed by FlashBackup version 2.62.
MotoRawConverter GUI (http://modmymoto.com/staff/apristel/guides/splash/apristel_splash_guide_download.rar)
RSD Lite - Google (http://www.google.com)for it.
SHX Codec (http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=298&act=down)
176x220 .gif image (http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=145)
.shx drm flash (http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/downloads.php?do=cat&id=47)

Ok lets get started….

First things first, lets get our 176x220 .gif images turned into .RAW images using the motorawgui converter.

Now as you can see I have everything I need in this folder, this makes things alot easier. You’ll see my 2 .gif images, the moto converter, my drm, the modded .17r no RSA firmware.

1. Double click on the MotoRawConverter GUI. Once it pops up click the “Browse” button.

2. Locate the folder containing the .gif images you want to convert to the splash screens. Left click on the folder and then click ok

3. Now, you need to click the "GIF2RAW" Button in the converter. You won’t see anything happen. This is normal.

4. Close the converter. We are now done with that part.



5. Open SHXCoDec.

6. Click the little folder icon, and then locate the DRM that you want to insert the custom splashes into.

7. Now click the “Split source SHX file” button, you will see the drm split into 2 items. Double click the one that says DRM (graphics) and the DRM editor will open.

8. Now in the DRM Editor, click the “Parse” button. You will see the list fill up.

9. Scroll down so you can the #65 an #66 entrys. This is where we are inserting our new .RAW images into the DRM.

10. Highlight the #65 entry and then click the “Replace” button. Now locate the folder with the new .RAW images and select the image of your choice and then click open. You will now get a screen asking about the size, it should already be at 176x220. If it is, click Ok. If its not, your original .gifs were not 176x220, and you'll need to fix that issue.

11. Highlight the #66 entry and follow the same steps as step #10 (but this time it’s the #66 obviously)

12. Now click the “Save Changes” button, and you can then name this to whatever you want.

13. Now close the DRM editor, and you’ll be back to this screen.

14. Now with the DRM still highlighted, click the “Replace” button. Now locate the .smg we just saved in step # 12 and then click open.

15. Click the “Complie SHX” button, pick a name to save your new drm.

SHXcoDec will complie then new .shx file. Once its finished, you can close shxcoDec.

16. Now open RSD Lite.

17. Once your phone is connected, click the “…” button and locate Custom DRM you saved in step #14 and click open.

18. Click start and flash the DRM to the phone.

19. Once it is finished, you now need to flash the modded no RSA firmware to the phone.

20. Once the new firmware is flashed, you should have your new custom splash.


With this modded V3 firmware, the splash screen locations are now in the DRM in locations 65 and 66.

To switch between the 2 splash screens in the DRM, edit seem 004A_0001, offset 1C0, set the hex value 00 for DRM 65 (hellomoto) or set to hex value 01 for DRM 66 (welcome). There really ISN'T any seem editing required if you only use 1 image.

Also remember if you plan on changing the DRM, you'll need to reinsert the .RAW images into it.

Soo I don't do something too drastic. I'm right in understanding that the new wav files have to be 8bits? No larger no smaller?
I want to make a phone modded to a star trek theme for my Mom the fan. I had hoped to make the sounds match the theme, skins and drm icons. I've got the SSaver, Startup and Shutdown animations and plenty of sounds for ring and alert tones but wanted to add system sounds if I could. I'm pretty sure they're all a bit bigger than 8bits, more like 15-30kbs am I hosed?

Well, i ahve only tried with them, but it wont hurt if you try to upload those. The guy that made this guy explained me that it was important, but who knows.... ;)

Enable Video:
1. SEEM 0032_0001 offset 70 bit 6 (1 on, 0 off)

2. SEEM 004a_0001 offset 1D3 (01) - no bit manipulation with this SEEM. Just change the offset value to 01.

3. You have to edit mma menu file. You can use program like P2KMenuEditor to activate Video Camera menu under Multimedia.


Other Seem Edits
1. Video length: Maximum/MMS

SEEM 0032_0001 offset 6E bit 3 (1 on, 0 off)

2. Resolution: High (176 x 144)/Low (128 x 96)
SEEM 0032_0001 offset 7D > bit 7 (1 on , 0 off)

3.Recording sound: On/Off
SEEM 0032_0001 offset 6E bit 2 (1 on, 0 off)

Reflashing Your Back-Up with Flash Backup 3



Making your backup

Make sure your screen reads "Read Data" in the top left corner.

Once you start your backup, a screen will open up showing you the progress of it. Wait until this screen says "operation done" at the top.


To Reflash, just follow these steps.

Flash Backup 3 will automatically save the backups into a folder in the program directory.

"C:\Program Files\Random's Developments\Flash&Backup 3\Backups"

If you haven't designated a different location for your backup to save, this is where it will be, with the date that you created the backup as the filename.

For the RAZR V3? Just choose V3 from the Drop Down menu and then select the check box that says "Select All"

I followed your directions to enable the video on my V3/p the menu option is there, the video ccam flashes on for a second then goes off. What have i done wrong?

Some of the very first V3 firmware didn't support video recording. Some have to upgrade their firmware before trying this mod.

They all support it, it's just that some don't have it enabled or need updating for it to work.

Know this is a old post, but for those that don't know SEEM editing, vs flashing /flexing is far safer.

SEEM's are files that control how the phone operates... Before editing, you download to your PC, make a backup (make a read only rar/zip file of your original SEEMS), then edit, then upload back to phone.

It's safer.. and faster than flashing /flexing with less chance for something to go wrong (such as a power failure in middle of flash for example)

Big plus to SEEM editing is "if" you need to put the phone back to stock it's VERY easy..

Will that work the same way? If I read a monsterpack file posted on MotoModders (R374_G_0E.42.17R) it has a CG2 in it as well, where the selections you show do not have that available to select. Will this make a full backup/monsterpack?

You can just have one or all doesnt matter.... I gotta run for a sec, I'll come back and see if it was enabled by default in my MP. I am pretty sure it is, but I was wrong one time in my life before. Around 4 years ago.

I do not know if this is where I should post this but after I downloaded Flash&backup3 and paid for the codekey the program says I only have 15 times to use it. Is that right or should I be able to use it as much as I need to?

sorry for replying in a different subject but i dekted a skin from my phone but when i go on my skins menu it sill says the skin i delted is there away where i can delete that i tried to use p2kcommender and it didn't work

Use p2ktools and make sure the folder that the skin was in is deleted. Delete it and all its contents, and then restart the phone. Should be gone. If the folder wont go away, make another folder the exactly same name, restart the phone, and now use p2ktools to delete it, restart, should be gone then.

Is your bootloader newer than 7.D0? If it is, you need to select the one for generic up to 8.26 or something like that. If SHX doesn't work, then do .fb3. The only difference is that you can only flash an .fb3 backup with fb3. Obviously. Make sure you check the select all button and it should be a full backup.

It should be unlocked after that and you should have unlimited access to it. If it doesn't work, you should contact random.

I've got with me 2X v3x, one is a parallel imported and the other is an vodafone nz branded, in the vodafone one i can browse wap with images and have access to a few other things, the parallel one i haven't got it so i was wondering if i could get the flash/flex from the vodafone one and install in the other one. would it resolve those issues?
i've been reading around and i found a guide to make a monster pack from a v3 fb3 backup file (http://www.themotoguide.com/razrbackup.php), does someone knows if its possible to do something like that to an v3x?

You can edit seem's for video recording or you can install mp (monsterpacks) which will enable video recording if it is included in the mp features you can get other cool features such as funlights skins and more.. here is how to edit seem so you can enable video recording, if you use mp you will loose your stock ringtones ringtones you have and anything stock the phone has that cannot be deleted but here is how to enable video recording on the razr v3(R374) make sure you have a razr v3 and not a v3r the package might say v3 but it could be wrong. **HOW TO ENABLE USING SEEMs** ! make sure you have a v3(R374) ! when you got that open up p2k and it should find your phone.. click on seems (left corner) then at the bottom left there is two boxes in the first box put 004e_0001 (depending on your seem package you have) in the second box put 0001 then hit load from file. choose the seem edit file that you downloaded, save to phone when complete turn the phone off and then back on. then you should have video recording enabled if you mess something up ask a mod for further questions

Just flash the one that has RSA removed. You'll enjoy the 17r firmware. It has vibe at startup, which i personally enjoy.

just one question, how do you get the camera shutter sounds back on? Apparently they don't work anymore. They're all there but none of them seem functional. I am still able to take pics but there is no shutter sound whatsoever. Can this be fixed?

hey very slick MP...i really like it. My question is about charging the battery. I charged the phone overnight, but it never said "charge complete" but instead still "charging"...and when I check the bat. status its always on BAR 2 though when its unplugged its full battery. Should I be worried that it might 'overcharge' the razr battery or ignore it as the S/W takes care of battery management?

here's another great guide made by nanoali. With this tutorial, you can change the original sounds like low bat, connecting the phone to charge, ending a call, etc

We need:

USB cable
Correctly installed drivers
P2KTools correctly working

Editing WAV sound software (you can use the stock sound recorder from windows) the WAV file quality must be 8khz, 8 bits and mono.

So, to change it, just edit seem 0032_001
Offset 82 bit 6 - “WAV_UI_AVAILABLE” - “KEYTONE” (check it)
Offset 6D bit 6 - “INTERPRETE_KEY_PRESS_AVAILABLE” (check it)

Upload your customs WAV files to: /a/ (the files must have specific names, see below for more information.)

Restart your phone and voila, you have the customized sound
here are the names you must use:

LBatChrg.wav ---> start batt charge
LEndList.wav ---> end batt charge or end of serie
LBatLow.wav ---> Advert low batt
LKeyMenu.wav ---> Accesing to "menu" via menu key
LKeySend.wav ---> send key or calling
LScroFst.wav ---> fast scrool
LKeyEnd.wav ---> end key
LError.wav ---> errr sound
LScroll.wav ---> normal scroll
LKeyHold.wav ---> holding the menu key for a shortcut
LSoftKey.wav ---> joystick key sound
LCalTimr.wav ---> 1 min beep on a call

LDevCnct.wav ---> connecting device
LNegate.wav ---> you can do the feature you whish
LCalDrop.wav ---> Error of network or wap
LConfim.wav ---> there is no confirm
LDelText.wav ---> delete text

Personal Note:
If you delete the files, the phone will use the normal sounds again, theres no danger of anything.

Use p2ktools and make sure the folder that the skin was in is deleted. Delete it and all its contents, and then restart the phone. Should be gone. If the folder wont go away, make another folder the exactly same name, restart the phone, and now use p2ktools to delete it, restart, should be gone then.
i've tried this probably a dozen times and "scarlet" still shows on my phone. i deleted everything but the moto skin and blackbox skin that i use. when i deleted them i forgot to delete the actual folder named scarlet and it's shown on my phone ever since but not in any of the p2k programs. is there another method to delete it? it's not a huge deal, but for some reason it bothers me just knowing its there. haha.
