The keys on my wifes PEBL just recently began acting up. It seems that some but not all of the keys do not respond. I tried disassemling it to see if there were any buttons to clean. But the buttons are under the backlighting EL strip. Has anyone run in to this in the past? Or possibly have anything to try. I did try to pull up the EL strip. But it seemed to want to tear. Thankfully that still works. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Only time Ive ever seen a bad keypad was after a bad unlock. I would try the usual suspects, master reset, reflash.

The phone in question was a new in the box unbranded phone I purchased for my wife for christmas. When it came it was programmed for Swiss Telecom or something like that. So I came to these forums and loaded one of the TMobile MPs. It has been working since then and that was just before christmas. Now a month and a half later the keypad starts acting up. I will see if the master clear and reflash help. Thank you for the idea.

that sounds more like a hardware failure in the keypad flex or
keypad membrane itself. cnn.cn has all the bits, just don't lose
the small rubber like piece near rge usb connector !!!!

Thats where they all go bad after the TP procedure, guess its crucial to get the right alignment.

Well I got it fixed. I guess my 8 month old son got ahold of it and was sucking on the USB connector of the phone. With this in mind I looked again at the flex connection near the top of the phone... and voila.... found the contacts were dirty or corroded or something. I cleaned the connections with a pencil eraser and reassembled the phone. It works! thanks for all the help. I didn't realize that the whole EL panel was also the buttons.
