I have AT&T for a carrier but MSU don't have them as an option. Can i use another carrier name without running into any problems. Also will it make any difference with p2kcommander?

personally i wouldn't use MSU. why not just flash the latest razr firmware? it's in the download section...

I just started getting into the modding scene, the first thing I wanted to do was take off my factory ringtones and pictures.I read that you had to have MSU running in the background to do it.

To delete them (and any file you want), just install P2K Tools and it's done.
Check the guides section for a "safe-to-delete" file list.
I never use any Motorola program to mod (except for RSD Lite)

MSU is your last option ever, just in case the phone is bricked anyway and before spending money for repairs you may use it. Otherwise it will give you the latest and hardest to mod firmware, Bootloader and relock your phone incase it was unlocked before.

p2kae is great for seem edits and gain table editing and such. but can't navigate the file system with it.

I used p2ktools and got all my factory ringtones and pictures off my v3r without screwing anything up. I read in another post to go to a/mobile/audio, but on my phone it was c/mobile/audio. Maybe i was reading that post on a plain v3 because they only have an A drive.

yes the guide is for standard v3. although the files are the same. but this is the v3 section... is the phone you're asking about a v3 or a v3r?

I thought it was a v3 until i hooked it up on flash and backup and found it was av3r 4515.

No problem. I will leave the thread here. It might be information in it for other r374 users, all the answers were made for that. Just open a new thread in the v3r section if you run into any more trouble,
