I hope I'm not ,by now, considered an excessive poster! I do search and read before I ask.:) . Whenever in doubt or too confused though, you have all unfailingly pulled me through it.
Thing is, Ive read on Flashing, flexing, etc, and cant seem to figure out how to choose what flash or MP I may need to acheive wahat I'd like to. Some of the Moto firmware links are apparently broken but, I was able to eventually navigate to a page with the list of MP files and such. But, how does one identify files compatable with ones versions, needs?
I have found no description links for the files listed for those downloads available at the firmware download site.
Im sure its ME confusing myself!
Any direction or input is appreciated. Thanks!

Well,
you can use any that begin in R374. Is there a certain thing you are looking for?

I would like to unbrand it from Tmobile . And I read mention of one that speeds up menus, increases speaker volume, extends video record time, and Id like to customize the lcd and sounds.

In most cases those are all individual mods. There are a few MP floating out there with a lot of these mods already built in them, just make sure you read what they have or don't have depending on what you want or don't want/need on your phone. Apristel has a few MP's posted in these forums, one of them I believe is not specific to any carrier.

Sounds like you want Ap's Tmobile MP. Its unbranded, but has all the settings for T-mo network, has almost all seem edits done, and it's just plain cool.

It is a good start, then you have minimal modding to do on your own to get it to your specific liking.
One more thing, in case nobody has mentioned it.. aside from reading a lot, the other important thing before you do any major modding to your phone is "back up"...

Thank you all. YES, I have backed up, good looking out.Since, I unlocked the Tmobile phone and will be used on Cingulars network, is that pack still a good one for me?
And by the way, may be far fetched but, can I create mp3 music ringtones on my computer then, put them in this phone?

You might want to use the Cingular (http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=812)
pack then. Only difference is Cingular specific settings.

As for mp3's. Yes you can make your own. I like NeoSoundFX. (http://www.neosoundfx.com/) It's free, has great editing options, and is simple to use.

Either way, whatever you flash with, I have T-Mos websession settings if you need them.

I purchased a (supposedly unlocked) V3 on Ebay. I received a TMobile V3(r or t?) with an unlock code which worked OK. I installed a Cingular SIM and bought some time. So far OK. Now I want to get the TMobile stuff off the phone including menu items which don't work. I'm OK with making the phone Cingular branded as long as it remains unlocked so I can use it overseas.

Details are:
s/w ver: R3443U2_G_0E.C0.13R
flex ver: GSVV3xxU5TMB01NA024
boot loader 0A.52

I've tried the Apristel premodded Cingular MP but got an error message regarding my chipset.

I've gotten the impression that this s/w and bootloader are too new to modify.

Can I MP it or flex it? Which software? Must the software exactly match the above specs? I have RSD lite and PST available.
Obviously I'm new to this. It took me several days to get this far.
Thanks for any help.

R374 firmware won't work on your phone. You need firmware that begins with R3443U2. Any other firmware will brick your phone!

Ok, looked in downloads for my phone razr (374) but how do you decipher the numbers
(R374_G_0E.40.9CR_PDS004_LP0003_DRM0003_JPJAVA_G_0 E_V3_04_05R_GSMV3xxT674TA09E_1FF)
I don't see any description that tells me what it does.

I'm looking to get rid of the cingular branded when the phone is turned on.

Thanks.

You have a v3r no a v3,discontinue trying to flash anything that starts with r374 as it will brick your phone. Try the v3r forum.
