View Full Version : Flashing a new razr question.
I have a V3 silver (TMO) thats modded with the typical mods (skins, font, drm) seems and BL downgrade with custom splash.
I just won an Ebay used V3 Magenta for my daughter and wondered if I flash my backup to her "Stock" V3 will it be an exact copy? I know the FW needs to be the same of course.
Mainly will the BL downgrade flash to the phone as well or would I have to do all that over?
I'm pretty sure it's not a "My Fave's" phone. At least I'm hoping it's not :D I should receive it tomorrow or the next day so I'm just trying to get a heads up on it before hand.
Thanks for your time & Happy Modding

I would just make a flex backup(using fb3) and flash that, then reflash her s/w to the .17r.
Then you can let her pick out the drm and stuff she wants ;)
But remember she will have ALL your contacts/pics/rings/etc.
Be sure its not My Faves.....thats not R374 software... be sure to *#9999#* and check...

NO no no no NONONONONONONO :whack:
Dont flash a full back up to her phone! You'll brick it! (due to every phone has an individual and unique PDS file)
First type *#9999# and make sure the s/w starts with r374_
If it does, than:
Downgrade the bootloader by flashing archy's downgrader, than make a full backup of the new phone with this method:
http://www.modmymoto.com/guides/f&b3.php (just incase!)
Than if you want your phones to be the exact same do this:
http://www.themotoguide.com/razrbackup.php
This type of backup will only back-up your "flex" (including everything you've done to it) and then as it shows, you will have to edit it into a monsterpack. Then flash that monsterpack, than the latest firmware (.17r) and then she should be on her way!

Or a guide using fb3.
http://www.modmymoto.com/guides/backup.php
This backup guide you can see what things you are selecting to backup, just make a flex backup like i said earlier, and then do the rest of the things (update s/w, drm etc)
Thank you! apristel, Jacknmary & Phlame217 for your fast replys.
I'll just do the full backup and start fresh. I have all the edits I've done (DRM's, Seems, etc...) and your right she might be ready for some of her own choices so I'll take this opportunity to have some father/daughter time. ;)
She's about ready to head off to collage so I'll take what time I have left with her before she leaves the nest.
Happy Modding!

lol college is a trip... quite a trip.
Well the Modding is going to have to wait. I got the phone in the mail today and wasn't happy with it. So I contacted the seller and they agreed to a refund. The overall housing of the phone wasn't to to bad for a used phone (little nicks/scuffs). But when I opened the flip and seen this on the LCD I wasn't satisfied.

Yes thats an "S" and a "O" ingraved into the LCD's lower corners. I was stunned that someone would actually do that to their phone.
Oh well it'l all be good. I glad I had an understanding seller.
*Goes off to Ebay to find another*

Oh man...just replace the screen cover! Its like 3 bucks!
I thought about doing that. But the phone ended up being that Cingular Pink color so that was the other fault with it. So now I'm looking at another 20 or so. Plus I've never had one apart so I'd probably break it LOL. The picture of the phone sure did look like the TMO Magenta color.
I'll locate another, for now she can continue to use the silver modded one ;)
I gotcha.... but you dont need to disassemble it to replace the screen cover....just an exacto knife to peel up the corner. Its on with adhesive kinda like rubber cement. Just pull it off, hit around the LCD with canned air, and put the new screen cover on! I also recommend dental wax in the holes along the sides of the earpiece close to the top. Keeps air from moving around inside so much...and prevents more dust from getting in.
Yea I read it was just a cover that was removable but I never knew the exact process to do it or I never seen the dental wax part. Wouldn't that melt in summer weather though?
Thanks for the Info.
No...dental wax is made stiff enough to tolerate 98.6 at a minimum...if not, it would melt in your mouth! Ive had many hot cups of coffee while using dental wax way back when I had braces... (dont ask)... didnt phase it!
