Hey Im trying right now to make some mp3 clips from songs I have to use as ringtones. does anyone know what "kbits , HZ and ,mono or stereo" attributes work well on the v3? Im working with "Total recorder" which allows me to save them to my specs.
Thnks!

22100 Hz, 96kbs, mono is more than good enough. Of course I over-do everything and make mine 44000hz 128kbs stereo :shoot:

Me too. Thats what I rip all my mp3 to. It might just be me, but even on the phone, I CAN tell a difference between 96kb and 128/192kb encoding.

In p2ktools, once connected (green light) hit "Refresh" then it should read the phone. Now you can browse thru the filesystem in p2ktools.

GAWD! I cant figure this process out. I am not familiar with these programs. I Keep getting "USB:IO time-out!, CMD:Data write fail, AND volume size fail! I made mp3s at 56 kbits 24000 hz stereo and under 192 kb. Yet I get these errors....Im about to pull my hair out!

Lene, what program are you using? The easiest way, (no ringtone details problems, no deleting the .db file) is to use MPT. Its available on the internet but you'll have to google for it, or buy it. Once you get it installed, you'll need to keep running the live update feature until it says there are no more updates. Then you can use the file transfer studio and send your tones. MPT will make the folder on the phone for you. Sometimes thats what it takes.

Yeah MPT is (don't take this the wrong way) pic/video/ringer program for dummies! Its very user friendly. You will see when I mean. I sent you a screenshot, check your pm.

delete the two .db files in the audio directory of the phone with the p2ktools and then restart the phone.

I just bought a Motorola SLVR L7 and whenever I try to transfer files from my computer to the phone it says "(file entity too large (4x0D))"
Is there any way I can get around this (I have a 128 MB memory card)

Top of the page, third tab over. Look under V3 guides.

You might also want to check out the L7 forums. There are subtle differences between how the L7 and V3 interact with the computer.

You restart the phone first. Then you go to menu>multimedia>audio>and select the sound clip you want. Then, press the menu button again. In the list of options is "apply as ring tone". Select that, and you now have that clip as your ringtone.

BlackThunder, you need to delete the two .db files in the audio folder and then restart your phone.
