how do i know what phone i have ?

Looks like you have a regular V3 which is good. It has a Cingular flex on it, and 1 down from the latest s/w. The latest ends in 17r.

So thats cool for you. You can download the reflash from the downloads and flash the 17r software.

Stever please read through the v3 guide, it will decrease the chance of you messing up your phone.

It won't take cingular off it, it will just update the firmware aka s/w. Are you looking to "unbrand" your phone?
