Got a problem installing my phone
|
Hey everyone, I had my phone (PEBL U6) set up on my computer and everything was fine did flashing and audio/skin uploads, etc with no problems. However, I recently replaced my motherboard and reinstalled windows.
I reinstalled the MOTO drivers.
Now, when I connect my phone through USB, it IS detected as being connected and a Motorola USB Modem device. The install new hardware window, though, shows "Cannot install this hardware. An error occured during installation of this device. Fatal error during installation."
I've tried several different USB ports but get the same error.
Any ideas on how to get the phone re-installed?

I'd use the old guide and remove all the devices and then once you have all of the motorola things uninstalled as well as unknown devices, run the driver install from the NEW getting connected.

thats the thing, this is a completely new install, all devices and were removed. i reinstalled the new ones, and connected the phone.
it appears in the hardware listing as Motorola USB Modem with no errors but before it can install the drivers, it comes up with that error window.
i even tried manually directing it to the drivers. it finds them, begins installing them and gives me that fatal error window again.

Moved to PEBL forum. Try starting your phone in boot loader mode (hold down * and # while powering it on) and then connect to the computer. Should kick Windows into recognizing it.

Here's a shot in the dark for you that just might amaze:
1. Disconnect your phone from the USB cable.
2. Check your phone's connection settings and make sure that the usb connection default is set to Data Connection (rather than Memory Card, USB Printing, etc.)
3. If you're running Windows XP, navigate to the Windows\system32\drivers folder and locate a file named wdf01000.sys
4. Either rename the file to wdf01000.old or move it to the recycle bin.
5. Re-attach your phone to the USB cable.
Let me know if this helps.
