XploreME works great :) Asking permission only once
Finally managed to do it.
When i ran XploreME, the Grant Permission Always option came up and i was all but glad to see it working perfectly.
What i did was i actually got a developer certificate from Motorola. Downloaded the MOTODEV Studio. And I Signed the JAD file of XploreME using the certificate i got. (Added the various permissions during the process) and bam ! It asked for access permission only once.
Now i can install any application, be it for Network access or for file system access, and the phone will ask for permission only once.
The Certificate is locked for each phone as you provide the Phone's UID to get the certificate.
So, Interested people can register themselves @ developer.motorola.com
Follow the instructions to obtain a certificate and sign the midlet.

I thought the same a while ago but i gave up cause motorola says that we need to send our midlets to them, then they'll test and decide about the permission certificate etc...
How did you get a developer certificate from motorola ? Please inform us and write a small tutorial. You'll make me happy
Thanks in advance.

Firstly, you need to signup @ developer.motorola.com
(For a midlet developer this process is fairly simple)
Then read the PDF @ this URL:
https://motocoder.custhelp.com/cgi-b...ted=1157562799
This has details of how to request the certificate and how to sign midlets using that certificate.
Just read it up. It should be simple.
If you have any doubts just PM me.
And there you go, attached my domain registry file.

So certs just arrived. How GRRR I was when I found out XPloreMe isn't compatible with my V9. At least Opera Mini 4.1 has filesystem access ...

I have started to dig it myself. I had to download 200 mb's of software so far. Plus a lot of steps.
Lets see if i can successfully sign my midlets.

What carrier provided your phone? I'm very interested in this, but not sure it will work with an AT&T phone since they customize their security.
According to Motorola:
These operators/carriers are known to customize the Java ME security policy and root certificate usage:
Amena Orange Telefonica
AT&T Rogers Ten
H3G (Three) T-Mobile EMEA/T-Mobile NA Vodafone/Vodafone France
H3G IL/Partner LATAM/Movistar Telenor (Nordic)
Telstra
NOTE: MIDlets digitally signed by Motorola or Java Verified may not install or run correctly on handsets
branded by these operators. Check with your operator for more information.
If you had access to JSR 75 before, even if you had to confirm every time for an unsigned application, that means you probably had an unbranded phone. Would you be willing to post your j2me_domain_registry.sm and corresponding certificates?

I've extracted the uid, created the key and the csr file successfully. Run the Motodev Studio for JavaME 1.00
I can't find the following tools at the tools tab. I only have my way and config tool
- Application signing perspective
- Signing Perspective
- Tool Perspective
Where are they ?
Greets, Sems.

Same prob here btw. I used the Method 4 described in the PDF.
I wonder why OM doesn't browse some directories, like /a/mobile/system ...

@carrier8ter: Yes mine is an unbranded V3XX. This did not work in Cingy V3XX coz i tried it in my bro's phone! There you go i ve attached the certificates.
@Semseddin : Just update the tool and it should have the application signing tool in the MOTODEV Perspective.
@Skrilax_CZ : You need to give appropriate permissions btw. This is the attribute in the JAD File to do that.
MIDlet-Permissions: javax.microedition.io.Connector.file.write,javax.m icroedition.io.Connector.file.read
The example above was for KD Player. Just try it with this attribute and it should work. If you are accessing other services like HTTP or COM , you need to add the corresponding permissions
Good luck.

It looks like OM4.1 needs some update in the manifest.mf file (some mess in it or what), for until I did that the phone would refuse to install it today, but yesterday it installed it without probs, strange. For those who has this probs, uploaded it, link in sig. (Note: I set version to 4.1.1 so it can be quickly recognised from unmodded one. )

Make a request to motorola. Sign up in developer.motorola.com and Ask A Question. All needed info about it is in link deepaksrivastav posted before (not in the PDF).

Ok, m8.
So far i am stuck at here;
Quote:
4. UID field/s (one or more, each UID has to be 14 octets, a total of 28 hex-format digits - line 9 and on).
Should your device only provide a 7 byte UID then please concatenate seven 0 byte values after the 7 bytes of the UID.
|
Here's how it looks like now ;
Quote:
Requestor=<biz sponsor CoreID>
Manager=PXFJ84
MD-JAVA
40
1
0
ALL
<AkdaSOFT>
<0x49 0x51 0x44 0xB6 0x0A 0x04 0x13>
0123456789012345678901234567
|
What should i fill to the last line ? Can you provide me an example of your signing request file and the message you have sent to them ?
I need a nice explanation since my english is not so good.
Thanks.
