Do I have a V3R?

Ok, I was supplied a phone and I was told it was a V3R but I have no way to tell. It is a AT&T branded phone running R3442A_G_0E.43.08R SW with boot loader oc.c1. If this is a V3R are there any caviates with the software/bootloader versions?

Yes, it is a v3r, but the newest version of it. There isn't that much info about it yet but you might make a backup with FB3 , its all explained here http://www.modmymoto.com/guides/ and upload it to some server. Would be really nice to havea closer look at that new firmware and especially the bootloader. Thanks.

Can I back it up even if it is still locked? I'm assuming that the unlock guide isn't going to work on it?

We don't know whether you can back it up or not - probably not I'm afraid - but locked / unlocked shouldn't matter

And I very much doubt unlock guide will work.

Thanks. Any suggestions for getting ringtones to it? I do have an unlocked v3i that I can transfer files to.

Send them through bluetooth from your V3i, or try to get it connected to P2K File Manager

Can I do that even though it is not "unlocked". I'm assuming the reason I don't see it on my pc via usb cable is that it is locked. I see my v3i just fine via MPT.

It doesn't need to be unlocked. MPT might not have a profile for a V3re, but you should be able to use P2K programs. Switch it to Data \ Fax mode and try P2K Tools or M-Explorer.

Use the V3i BT if that is easier for you.

I got MPT to talk to it !!! had to update to 4.21. After that it came right up. P2K isn't playing nice though.. Seems to want to work but locks up. Thanks again for all of your help!!
