List of files on the V3re
Hello - here is a link to a listing of all the files on a stock AT&T v3re. I've made a few conclusions (from a newbie's point of view!), but I'd like to hear from the experts, since I don't have any experience modding other Moto phones.
1) This phone has only one drive. /a/
2) Not many apps can show the files on this phone. (M-explorer & P2K Commander ONLY)
3) With the above listed apps, they don't show ANY files in the root directory! Arrrggghh.
4) SkiMan has errors when trying to delete a skin folder... maybe the permissions are different on this phone?
http://rapidshare.com/files/69113356...files.rtf.html
Please review the above list of files, and reply with any differences from other Moto RAZR file structures.
Your experience & knowledge is very much appreciated!
thanks,
- Mark -

It's a shame we're unable to access all the files on this phone. I was very surprised that SkiMan (that's the program I used to generate the above list of files) listed so many files in the root drive... but no apps are showing us those.
Still a few mysteries to solve on the v3re.

The attached excel spreadsheet shows all files on the V3re.... the first 79 files are located in the root directory. These 79 files are NOT being displayed by P2KTools, or P2K Commander, or M-Explorer.
http://rapidshare.com/files/69339159...3442A.xls.html
For some reason, Skins Manager provided a log file showing all files it scans.... that's the only way I knew they existed on the V3re.
Have any other V3re modders been able to view/alter/delete the root files on this phone?
If so, please share the app that does it.
thanks!

I managed to access the files, but it's bit tricky and i'm not sure it will do any good to manny of you. But for me, it worked like a charm.
Here is the quick how to:
1. first make cg2 backup with flash and backup (of course you need the correct profile, so google it)
2. Then, upload all files you would like to edit from some other source using mexplorer only!! This app is very nice because it recognised the phone and every other time you hook this phone up, it loads the file system from cache.
So, once again, upload all files you want to edit later. Don't matter that you are uploading wrong files. This is only used to build the correct file system architecture.
3. After that, restore your backup with flash & backup.
4. Fire up again mexplorer and voila, your hidden files are right there, in root folder, but this time you will be dealing with original v3re files.
You must be wandering why would someone use this rather complicated procedure. Well, i got a contract to build a custom firmware with specific wap and mms profiles. But i didn't knew how to edit them on pc and upload back. This little procedure saved my sorry ass LOL

I'm going to give this idea a whirl, Tvrtko... thanks so much for the tip.
If this procedure does show all the root directory files, will they remain visible to M-explorer in the future? Or will this procedure need to be done each time an edit is desired on a root directory file?
I'll let you know how it goes.....

To my idea and short expirience, this will stick every time you load mexplorer. Just be carefull if you click refresh when you delete something from your phone. Only refreshing could mess things up for you. But yeah, you can try, as you have your backup so nothing bad can happen. It should remain every time because mexplorer loads the list from cache after you first browse the phone, and also ads to cache file when you upload something on it.
@Dumba: Thanks, it's always nice to say a thing or two here, specialy if it involves one of my favorite subjects.

OK - I believe this process did work on my v3re. Here's what I did:
1) Backed up CG2, using FB3.
2) Downloaded to my hard-drive anybody's version of plmn_text_table.bin... didn't matter what's in the file, really.
3) Launched M-Explorer
4) Double clicked on "Volume /a/"
5) Dragged the "dummy" plmn_text_table.bin file over to M-explorer. A window indicated progress that this file was being copied to your phone (I gasped, but didn't worry).
6) Exit M-explorer
7) Launched FB3
8) Restored the backup I had made earlier for CG2 only.
9) Launched M-explorer. This time, it indicated "filelist is loaded from cache". The "dummy" file was still listed there.
10) In M-explorer, click and drag the "dummy" plmn_text_table.bin file to your hard drive folder of choice.
11) Note the window showing progress of Reading this file from your phone.
Aha.... we tricked it! The phone gave us the backed up copy of this file, and NOT the "dummy" version.
Seems like this procedure should work for just about any file we'd like to edit in the root of a v3re phone.
I will do more experimenting later tonight, looking into how to delete some files to save space.
Many thanks to Tvrtko for this idea.

I found a problem with this technique last night. M-explorer will only retrieve a file of the exact same size as the "dummy" one stored in cache. Without knowing the size of the file stored on your v3re, this makes it tough to find another file that size. Kind of a chicken & egg problem. lol.
I tried retrieving custwakeup.gif from the phone. I copied a "dummy" gif file of 5258 bytes to M-explorer. Then restored the CG2 backup to my phone. Extracted the custwakeup.gif and it was EXACTLY 5258 bytes! When I opened the phone's gif in a graphics program, it was only half there (top half of rastered image).
