I´m editing this thread because i want to make it step by step, and i want to introduce u right to the ezx phone modding, so... there are many cases of modders... u maybe used to modd p2k plattforms such as PEBL,SLVR,RAZR,ROKR,triplets... all : C,V,E,U,L ..etcetera series, well Rokr E2 (EZX series) are WAY DIFFERENT but dont worry with practice it gets easier... , i was involved in E398, ROKR, SLVR and RAZR series... believe me is not the same, do not attepmt to mod with p2k software, it wont work.

TERMS AND MEANINGS:

MP =

Main Menu>Settings>Phone Settings>Properties.

In this list you will see
"AP S/W Version:" some similar to this: "R564_G_12.00.45P" this is your AP
"BP S/W Version:" u´ll fine some similar to AP.

example, my AP is 45P, but my BP is 43P.

here u have a list of firmwares some u may find them on downloads section of these forums, some you may not, PM me and i´ll help u to find or to recommend but till now i recomend 45P_ilove3d_VIII in stickies section, here goes the list:

Stock. nuthing interesting

Same as the previous, some nice and good skins, increased volume, etc. Actually the flex is the same as the 45P-ilove3d-VII (below)

7. R564_G_12.00.43P-inc.-volume
Branded, almoust stock, but with incrased volume. Sound skipping problems are almoust resolved (like in all further firmwares, but still existing)

8. R564_G_12.00.45P-asmotoe2-fixed
system files shown in the file manager.

9. R564_G_12.00.45P-ilove3d-VII for Motorola ROKR E2
Took many of the ideas from the asmotoe2 variant and inserted many media stuff (skins, etc).

Flashing - installing an operating system. it blows everything out of the phone and put some new... last part for more details!!!

CG= Code Group: files inside of Flash Files (.SBF and .SHX). They are the files and directories that are installed into the phone when you flash it. What do they mean ? a bunch of CG's are what make up a flash file. And that certain CG's are responsible for certain areas of the phone.

Flex - The flex is your personal stuff on the phone.

RSD - Also known as RSD LITE. necessary to use to flash the phone. You will need to google for this. Make sure that you use version 2.5 or higher, or it will not detect your phone.

Drivers - When someone refers to drivers, 99.999998% of the time, they are referring to the drivers found Here. These are the drivers (the files that instruct the computer how to interpret the phone).

SD Card - Memory Card, MMC, SD. This is your Memory Card. One should have come with your phone.

MPT = Motorola Phone Tools. program that should come on CD with your phone. It allows you to sync your phone book, add ringtones, pictures and video to your phone.

=FLASHING=

ESSENTIAL:

• FULLY CHARGE YOUR BATTERY
• CLOSE ALL PROGRAMS (highly recommended)
• BACKUP YOUR PHONE NUMBERS AND ALL DATA everything will be erased.
• CHECK THAT UR NEW FIRMWARE HAS A LANGPACK YOULL UNDERSTAND (almost everyone should have english on it)
• IF IT IS YOUR FIRST FLASH PROCESS: go out and scream! dont flash if nervous... i always get nervous when flashing jejeje!

1. Take a look at your flash file. When you unzip the archive usually you will find only two files
- one is .shx
- other is .sbf file. First you will flash the .shx and then you will flash the .sbf.

2. Turn off your phone. Press the Voice Key + Red Key. You will get the primary bootloader screen. Now start hitting the voice key multiple times until the bootscreen text changes and you will see the secondary bootloader.

3. Connect your phone, open RSD Lite and flash your phone with the .shx file (in some firmwares there is only one .sbf file - flash this one)... while flashing the PC may appear freezed, leave it do its job... it may take from 15 to 30 minutes.

4. After the flash is complete then you can turn your phone into the primary bootloader again and then flash it using RSD lite. Here you may need to follow additional instructions from the firmware post itself (like replacing some .smg files during the flash). However that is optional

5. You may disconnect ur fone, if it doesnt turn on, take out the battery and put it in again, turn it on.


PD: rokr e2 modding is still on practices and everything untill now we know this fone never dies... but anyway take care of it when flashing.

EXPERIENCE: if u get the following error : "Failed flashing process. Phone did not re-enumerate after RAM-downloader was sent (0x3E)" change the usb port!
If it Fails, dont worry, just repeat 1-7 again until it pass. jeje


well i took this from several forums such as motomodders, freemod in order to make it easier and to summarize taking good things from other forums and edited it to make it more simple

Now we no longer have to rename and copy CG files during a flash. The LP is now in .sbf format. Thanks to Imahottguy for converting this.

open RSD connect ur fone in modem and it will detect by itself and wait untill rsd by itself shows this:


then chose the lang pack file like this:


click start and you´ll see something like this on the process... that means you´re doing right


do not disconnect until it says this:
